Brothers Complete is specifically designed to restore balance and proper function to a dog's intestinal system. We provide the highest quality natural ingredients with added vitamins, minerals, and other trace nutrients and place extreme importance on balancing the relationship of those nutrients to each other as well as to the organism as a whole to create a highly nutritious dog food. A dog's feeding requirements may vary depending on their individual age, metabolism, and activity level but you will normally need to use less Brothers than other dog foods. The Daily Feeding Guide is a starting point so adjust slowly from there to achieve, then maintain, your dog's ideal weight. You can determine a healthy weight by placing your open hands on your dogs' sides. You should be able to feel the ribs when pushing in lightly but not see them when looking at the dog.
Daily Feeding Guide
Start at 1/4 cup a day for each 6lbs of body weight (or 1 cup a day per 25lbs) and adjust from there. For body weight above 75lbs add at a reduced rate per 25lbs. Puppies need more food during growth but do not free-feed or over feed large breed puppies. You should be able to feel their ribs but not see them.
Dog's Weight | Amount of Food Per Day (cups) |
---|---|
6 to 25 lbs | 1/4 to 1 cup |
26 to 50 lbs | 1 to 2 cups |
51 to 75 lbs | 2 to 3 cups |
76 to 100 lbs | 3 to 4 cups |
Feed your dog twice a day giving one half the daily allowance at each meal.
Brothers Complete suggests you feed the recommended amount of Brothers to begin with, regardless of how much you were feeding of the old dog food, and adjust slowly from there. Overfeeding can cause a soft stool or diarrhea and is a sign to cut back on the amount of Brothers you are feeding.
When switching to Brothers Complete we recommend mixing Brothers Complete with the old food for a few days to as much as a week. Every dog is different and tolerates change at his or her own level but usually the worst that happens if the change is too fast is a loose stool. The amount one feeds his or her dog varies with age, activity level, and environment. So it best to monitor your dog during the first few weeks after switching to determine the ideal feeding amount.

Verdict is still out

My 5 year old pug has been on Hill's z/d for 3 years now, due to chronic allergy-related issues (rashes, ear/skin fold yeast & bacteria infections). I thought this may be a great food to try to switch him on to so he gets overall better nutrition... he seemed to be doing well with it (maybe slightly more poop).... but then just as I was at the 60% this new food 40% old food I started noticing an abundance of more shedding from him. He's always shed A LOT and this was noticeably MORE. It was middle of summer, no reason that it would dramatically increase (he usually shed most in spring). I switched him back to 60% old food, 40% new and shedding is less again. May try again to test if my theory My 5 year old pug has been on Hill's z/d for 3 years now, due to chronic allergy-related issues (rashes, ear/skin fold yeast & bacteria infections). I hope it works, I think the formula SOUNDS perfect for him. … more

By Ronn on Oct 24, 2020
Both of my dogs love it. They eagerly dive in and enjoy it.. they seem to feel better and do not balk at feeding time like they used to. Its a wonderful feeling.

My Husky loves this food.
By PrincessElSe on Aug 22, 2020
Aspen loves this food. Although I can’t say that it has helped much with her allergies, she is losing weight on it. We will continue to use it for that fact. Our vet says our Husky is a little too husky!

Always Excellent
By DogMom on Jul 19, 2020
Have been a customer for quite awhile. Never a problem. If I have had to make a change or something did not work once received, such as dogs did not like food or vet requests changed, Chewy has always been patient and helpful. Highly reccommend.

UNIQUE PROTEIN BUT.......
By Char on Jul 23, 2020
My pups wouldn’t eat it. I try to rotate their food, and feed them high quality dry and wet, so it was disappointing that they didn’t like it. Your pup might love it.

LOVED BY MY VELVET HIPPO RED PIT BULL
By Hazy on Jan 30, 2020
I read the review 3 down from this one titled "put in treat balls"---great idea. I also was buying the Brother's goat biscuits that my sweet red pit bull loves, however, they have been out of stock forever. The goat dry dog food has the same ingredients as the cookies but in kibble form and of course a lot cheaper. Hazel doesn't mind when I give her goat dry dog food as a treat on our nature walks rather than biscuit form---tastes the same to her---delicious!!!! Thank you Chewy and Brothers for an exceptional quality dog food my angel really enjoys. It doesn't get any better than Chewy and Brother's.

It works well for dog's suffering w yeast
By Natsmth on Jan 28, 2020
I almost never write reviews but this food is slowly but surely healing my dogs from yeasty itchy skin. I've had shampoos pills vet bills and they helped but the issue would return. It takes a while months to a year sometimes but they will slowly start to improve.my lab mix he's five has a shiny coat and less itch but my 13 yr jack Russell is taking longer but her coats a lot better. PS if I could cut the treats and people food it would have been a lot better already. So hard to deny them I'm trying though.

Picky dogs love it!
By TingsMom on Dec 22, 2019
This is one of the five different foods I give my 5 dogs. I think my dogs get bored with having the same food every day, so I rotate the brands and flavors. So far, this technique is working. The Dog Food Advisor has evaluations of foods and I choose 5 of the 4 & 5 star reviews. Chewy usually carries all the quality brands recommended by Dog Food Advisor.

Put in treat balls
By Katie on Jul 26, 2019 Top 50 Contributor
I had been buying the one pound bag of treats with the same ingredients for about $10.00 each. My dogs loved the treats and I love the ingredients, so I decided to buy the 5lb. bag of food for an overall much cheaper price and put it in their treat balls. I'm always looking for healthy treats to put in the balls and this is about as healthy of a 'treat' as one can get. The dogs are still able to enjoy this as a treat, it lasts longer that the biscuits, and I save some money. Win, win, win!

Allergic Lab
By pkki on Aug 23, 2019
I get this auto-shipped. I have gone to the store to get food for my very allergic Labrador. Not easy and she likes the goat. It is so easy to get it shipped. I do have to feed her less. The vet told me some of the weird proteins are higher in calories. Good to know so I will feed her less.
