Browning Mossy Oak Shadow Grass Blades Dog Collar

I reviewed this collar back in January, it was headlined “a little weary.” The fact I was weary resulted from the fact I didn’t trust the plastic snap buckle. I’ve had two collars with the same type buckle and my dog pulled the two pieces apart. She’s a German Shorthaired Pointer and she’s very strong especially if she she sees a rabbit while I’m walking her! There are a lot of rabbits in my neighborhood due to construction and a lot of the wooded areas are gone. My last review I mentioned I was going to replace the buckle which I did. I’m now confident it will never separate. And I can now use it. I took the plastic snap buckle off and replaced it with it with a metal buckle you would find in most men’s belts. I also put 2 holes in then reinforced them with metal eyelets. I would have preferred smaller ones but these are all they had. Here is a picture so you can see what I did. I sewed it together by hand but a sewing machine would have been much faster. If a person has a dog that doesn’t pull or is only a moderate puller I can recommend this collar as is the same for having a smaller dog. I haven’t said it won’t work on my dog it’s just I have to be more cautious because of my dogs prey drive instincts. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to make her stay when she spots a rabbit or squirrel run past her. She nearly pulls my arm out of socket if I’m not paying attention! … more

Ive been waiting for this to get in stock. I’m very happy with it. Has a lock feature I wasn’t away of but very happy it’s there. My dog pulls a lot and I feel better knowing it’s locked on.

It’s a great looking collar but having said that I’m a little weary of the snap buckle. It doesn’t have a heavy duty feel to it which I noticed right off. It does have a lock mechanism on it but I’m not sure if that provides more strength against the stress of a dog pulling on leash or it’s just there to prevent accidental release. I really like the collar so I think I’m going to get my one needle and thread out and replace it with a metal one and put some metal eyelets in. I would like to see the designer change it to a buckle like on a belt. They could reinforce the holes with those metal eyelets. If they did that it would get 5 stars. I had a collar with a plastic buckle that was actually bigger and heavier than this one and it did pull open one day and it wasn’t under heavy stress so this is where my concern comes from. I love how thick the collar is. I got it for my medium sized dog, he has broken all his other collars so far. This one is made like a large collar, and I love that it has a separate loop for the dog tag.

Good quality. Cute on him. A little bit too big on a 3 month old Boston terrier.

These collars exceeded my expectations. The only complaint I have is that I originally ordered two large assuming they would fit my two 60 pound dogs. Golden retriever and Australian cattle dog. The large size was two big so I ordered the medium which was perfect. The buckle is very sturdy and the spring very nice. It also has a locking mechanism on the buckle which is very nice. The collar also has a separate loop for the tag which is not in the original photo. This is a feature that I love and usually only buy a collar if it has this. So when it was delivered and I noticed this was on it I was extremely pleased. We have an old Yellow Lab with a huge neck. It’s very difficult to find a collar that is large enough to comfortable fit him. This one is PERFECT and very well made. I especially like the lock feature on the collar’s clip. This is a great item!
