Brown's Garden Chic! Hi-Energy Plus Suet with Mealworms Wild Bird Food
I have this out in my yard along with another variety and most of the birds go for the other kind but the bluebirds really seem to like it. The first thing I noticed is that it is the greasiest suet I have ever bought which makes it unpleasant to handle but would not make me not buy it.
The birds choose this over the no-melt types of suet, which is okay in the winter. During breeding season, though, I use no-melt suet because melting suet on birds' feet and bellies can cause egg addling.
This has to be excellent for the birds, but noticing the price I paid, I won't get it again. If you can afford it, the high protein and the ease of use make it a good product. It's just that on a fixed income, I can't stretch my money that far.
Wild insect-eating birds outside of our house really enjoyed this product and finished it off quickly.
