A stunning addition to your yard, your neighborhood birdies will love the Byer of Maine Ellipse Birdhouse! Hand-sculpted from mango wood into a beautiful, anti-predator sphere, each home is kiln-dried and painted in a vibrant hue. A 1 ⅛-inch entry hole is perfect for small birds like wrens and chickadees and will provide them a wonderful haven to nest. Featuring drain holes on the bottom and a removable hatch for easy seasonal cleaning, each home is finished with polyurethane to help protect it from the elements.
I do not feel comfortable using this as a birdhouse. It only has one small drainage hole and no vent holes. It looks stunning and is well-made; but, since this is a coated wood, I just do not see how this house will breathe. I will not be using it.
It gets 1 star merely for being beautifully made.
Unless I’m missing birding basics, this should be placed in the novelty section.
