Another case of cat getting sick after eating :(

Like many other reviewers, my poor Pepper was terribly sick after eating this. I've racked my brain trying to find another explanation, but my cats regularly eat similar food, and they had already eaten a partial portion of their regular food, so it wasn't just a case of indigestion from sudden food-switching. Also, this wasn't normal retching. It was quick, within 15 minutes of walking away from his bowl (which was still mostly full -- neither of my two cats wanted to eat much of this, which is highly unusual) he was throwing up everything he had eaten. Deep, painful-sounding vomiting, too. It almost sounded like he was screaming. It was scary, and I felt terrible. I don't know what's wrong with this food, but I have to assume there's some problem, since this issue has been pretty commonly reported across various Internet sites, involving cans purchased at different times from different retailers in different parts of the country. The rest of my box is going in the trash.
Meows for this pate
My cat loves these ! I add a little water for extra hydration and she devours it everytime. She meows like crazy whenever I take a new pack out of the box.

I normally feed Applaws wet ( the chicken, duck and chicken and cheese varieties - non pate )...Thought I would try this new pate Vitality formula. It was a very thick mousse like texture. I added a little warm water and all 3 of my cats did like the taste. About 45 minutes later two of the three cats became sick ( throwing up ). They looked very ill. Thank God above I had some Cerenia tablets left over from my vet ( given to me for a cat who is prone to pancreatitis ). I gave a 1/2 of tablet to each of the sick cats and withheld any food for 4 hours to let their digestive system rest. I then introduced some plain cooked chicken tenders and both cats ate and kept that down. My 3rd cat did not have any problem with this food. I checked the ingredients and the only thing I can think that may have caused this is the MARINE MICRO ALGAE. I will not be repurchasing this and would advise if anyone else does, only give a TEENY TINY AMOUNT TO TRY FIRST.
My So-Finicky Cat will Not eat this either
My Cat is the most Finicky cat I've ever owned, and she won't even come near any those three flavors. I'm trying all different cat foods & she is impossible. Love

My cats have had this brand before, and had no problems with it. I gave them this pate version of it for the first time this morning. Withing 30 minutes of them eating it, all 3 of my cats started throwing up violently, a lot! 2 of them are okay now after throwing it up. But my senior cat is currently at the vet, and needing to stay over night. She had a much worse reaction to it, the vomitting, and labored breathing and groaning in pain.
Cats love it
Good ingredients, 12% protein and pate. My cats love it.

My cat has been eating the Applaws pate for years and it’s the only thing he would eat. They changed the pate to Vitality. I bought two cases thinking it would be fine. I introduced him to it slowly, and he threw up 7 times the first time I gave it to him. I waited a couple of days thinking maybe he just had an upset tummy or something. Same thing the next two times I tried it. $100 wasted and I’m so disappointed. I got him the Applaws limited ingredient flakes and while he loved the pate, he seems to be tolerating the flakes even though it’s a completely different texture.
No go for my cats

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] All 3 of my indoor cats ranging from teenager to senior, male and female, gave the food a try and that was it. It was a no go. I split a can between all 3 cats for each flavor and they gave it a few licks and walked away. I did leave it in their individual feeders thinking they might come back and eat more but they didn’t. Out of the flavors the one with salmon got a few more bites by one of my senior cats but the food didn’t get finished. The food’s texture was smooth and not too dry. I do add a little bit of water to their pate food to make smoother and give them more moisture. I tried these with and without adding water with no difference on the outcome. After stirring the food, there is residual food/broth stuck to the can that wouldn’t come off after rinsing with water. I have had this happen with other foods though too. The lid is hard to open/remove but seems like a quality can. My food snob cats give this a thumbs down.
My cats won’t eat it.
