Fill the Grass Planter base with water and allow the seeds to soak overnight. Cover the bowl with a sheet of paper towel. Rinse and pour the seeds into the bowl to let dry for a few hours. Afterwards, keep the seeds moist with a wet paper towel or spray bottle. Keep at it until the seeds have sprouted. Lift them out by holding the paper towel by its corners. Add the bag of vermiculite to the bowl. Spread the sprouted seeds evenly onto the vermiculite surface. Do not mix. Add the grid cover once the grass starts growing. Water every so often. After a few days, the grass is ready.

I only gave this a one star because I do like the concept of growing the grass in the middle of the race track. When I grew-grass in small containers, my cats tend to walk around with the entire pot and grass making a giant mess lol. However, I did grow this grass according to instructions as I’ve done it dozens of times in the past with different Grass seed. I have one cat in particular that goes crazy for anything green therefore I have to keep my house plants up high and dry away from him. I have cats and not a single cat would touch that grass! I just looked back and see that it was made in Malaysia so I’m assuming the seeds come from Malaysia as well. I will keep the race track and buy locally sold(USA) grass mix for the future. I would definitely buy this toy again, but I would never use that grass seed that comes with it. Just buy your seeds locally that are specifically for cats.(I worry about buying it from a farm store because you don’t know if they put some type of chemicals or such to speed up the growing ..

There were no instructions concerning the best way to do the seeds and growing medium so I just planted them like normal. Seeds seemed old. That was a disappointment because she enjoys cat grass, but not catnip.
