Our 9m old kitten likes to shovel and not chew his kibble which was making him sick. We wanted to give this a shot over a traditional slow feeder and it works! We have had it open for 6 hours and our boy has already figured it out. He is no longer able to shovel his food now Bonus his brain has to work a bit too

Our cat Gourdon Hamsey has always needed measured meals and a slow feeder. Lately he has been vomiting more, it happened to increase during Christmas season when decorations were up and he’s a tiny monster who liked to chew on the fake tree as well. We were trying to narrow down if it was him ingesting the “cat safe” spray we were using on the tree. As a side note, stay away from essential oils as cat deterrents in sprays, water diluted citrus spray is much safer and easier on the GI tract. The vomiting decreased so much once we got this product and started using it! I wanted to wait until all other possible causes were eliminated from the environment and we are about two weeks after all decorations have been put up so only the slow feeder is in play and the vomiting has continued to be minimal! I would say conservatively a 75% decrease with this feeder. Not to mention it engages him mentally for a little while. I’m shocked to be so happy with it!
Fun to watch kitty dig for treats
It took kitty a minute to figure out what to do with this thing, but once he figured it out, there was no stopping him. He doesn’t seem to be able to see or smell
It took kitty a minute to figure out what to do with this thing, but once he figured it out, there was no stopping him. He doesn’t seem to be able to see or smell his regular food in it, but when we put treats in it (Bonkers, Greenies, that sort of thing), his nose comes alive and his whiskers twitch and he starts hunting for treats! He scoops them out one at a time with his paw, sometimes directly into his mouth, but more often onto the floor. Or they land on the feeder, which slopes in a way that funnels the treats to one side. It’s a nifty design. Regardless, he seems to have a good time with his “digger” puzzle, and we love watching him use it! Unlike some of the other puzzle feeders, this one is very easy to clean. It comes with a circular soft plastic holder that’s meant to keep it in place on the floor, but it’s useless. I put it on a silicone mat with a lip, and that keeps it from moving around too much. This is definitely something I’d buy again. I kinda want to buy it for all of my friends with cats.
100000% recommend
TLDR: There is literally no reason to take stars off for this thing. My senior cat loves it. The mat doesn’t lay perfectly flat? Doesn’t matter, it keeps the thing
TLDR: There is literally no reason to take stars off for this thing. My senior cat loves it. The mat doesn’t lay perfectly flat? Doesn’t matter, it keeps the thing in place and catches treats. Cats can bite the cups to pull them out? Even better, doubles the places to hide treats. Nothing will break, easy to clean. My cat is 19 yo and doesn’t play with too many other toys anymore. But he is obsessed with this thing. I wfh and it stays in the office. I put treats in it when we start work in the morning and refill it after lunch. He sits at the office door in the morning waiting to get in and get his first “project” of the day. As others have mentioned, he absolutely bites those cups to pull them out. Who cares? I think it keeps him engaged for longer batting and chasing those cups around waiting for the treats to fall out of them. TIP: put treats in and UNDER THE CUPS. They have no choice but to reach in to get them out of the white holes. I usually put 1-2 in each cup and 1 underneath. We bought this for him when he LOST HIS VISION a few months ago (temporarily thank goodness undiagnosed high bp) and he figured it out immediately. It was a tough week and he was not himself, but he figured this out like it was his new job and he loved it even more once his vision was back to normal. I tell everyone about this thing. 10/10 Hank the cat and I highly recommend!
Maybe for the future
My cat loves puzzle toys but this one he just turns his head at. Might be because of how easy it is since he mastered a “hard” one within a day. Saving it to see

Helped with eating to fast
My cat Oreo used to eat too fast and would throw up dude to his underdeveloped esophagus but this helped a lot with him slowing down and only eating a few at a time

Ok depending on your cat

My cat was maybe not smart enough for this. She wasn’t able to pull food out with her paws her strategy was pulling the whole thing out with her mouth and dumping it. So I guess it worked for brain stimulation but she would still eat quickly then and I got it to prevent regurgitating which was not solved by this. A good solid product though and I can still use to hide treats for her and small amounts of food but not full meals.
Great idea
I like this product as it not only slows down the eating but also stimulates the brain.

Enrichment!
