The width of that portion is 14.57 inches. The small cube is 14.57 inches x 14.57 inches.

The larges base is 19.69 inches x 15.75 inches. The smalls base is 14.57 inches x 14.57 inches.

Are the cushions made to stick to the wood? Or if you take them off, is it smooth wood?

The cushions are secured by two velcro strips and can be easily removed to display the smooth wood finish.

The tree looks luxurious and sleek. For one, we live in a studio and two, our cat sheds a lot, so since the tree is mainly wood it's perfect for both space and looking clean (we had a white Armakat tower- which i also recommend- but my black cat made the carpeting look grey). On the minor down side, there are spaces where my 13 lb cat doesn't fit well, like the step and the inner cubby. (I may put some of her supplies there or an led candle like another review said), but she tends to gravitate towards the cushions anyways.

We bought this for our two 8-month old kittens. It arrived promptly and was extremely easy to put together. Our 8-pound kitten and our 12-pound kitten both love the cat tree. The scratching post, scratching mats, and memory foam mats are all great quality and easy to remove and clean. The tree itself is excellent quality and very unobtrusive. It doesn't take up much space and fits in easily with our furniture. The only complaint we have is that the balls that come with the cat tree are not good quality. We had only had the tree for a couple hours before our kittens began tearing the balls apart. Overall, the tree is a great buy and very well made.

Easy to put together and it looks like a piece of furniture so it doesn't look out of place next to my couch. The sisal rope scratcher is a big hit. The upper left square where the toy dangles is too small for my cat to sit in so she doesn't use that bit. We put a battery candle in there which shines out the circular porthole so the whole piece looks decorative even when the cat is using it.
