How is it that these contain garlic powder? Isn’t garlic toxic to dogs?

These treats contain a small amount of garlic that is not harmful to dogs. When used in small amounts, garlic can help support the immune system and liver. It helps the cardiovascular system prevent blood clots, and reduces cholesterol/fat build up in the blood and heart. It also aides in the fight against bacterial, viral, and fungal infections, and increases the rate of killing off parasites. Garlic also helps increase the palatability of products.

Salt is a source of the minerals sodium and chloride. It is essential in regulating your pet’s blood pH level, and promotes hydration and healthy kidney function. The Original Recipe treats have salt added at a very low level. Salt is about 1/3 sodium.

I was really surprised that my dogs liked these. They are hard crunchy treats, easy to carry in your pocket, not stinky or messy. Both dogs, both the food hound and the picky dog, really like them. Heck, even one of the cats will eat them. Nice to have on hand and easy to carry around for training on walks.

They LOVE these crunchy bits but are still able to focus on the next step in the lesson. I am only ordering other treats because occasionally they want something new. I can offer another treat, and then they miss their Charlie Bear crackers and go looking for them! The other day they opened the zipper on my bag so they could steal the Charlie Bears!

All of my dogs have been getting these for years, they all have liked them. Having said that, I have offered these to friends' dogs and they might turn away, like "Really? That's all you got?" But we've always used them, they are dry and don't make a mess in your pocket, and they seem healthy. Turns out they really are healthy. Our puppy (who turns out to be a counter-surfer) tore open a sealed bag and ate the whole thing. Uh-oh. What kind of mess are we in for? The answer is none. No barfing, perfectly normal poop the next day. I feel good giving them as many as I want.
