A standard tennis ball is about 2.5 inches. The medium size (12M) would fit a tennis ball.

The XX-Large balls are not compatible with the Chuckit! launchers.

Ball thrower

My golden retriever has fallen in love with this. He will sleep beside it and go to it when wanting to play. It is definitely his favourite toy.

Minimal Effort Maximum Distance

Works great. I can easily fling the ball very far. It's easy to pick up the ball off the ground with the thrower.

My vet told me about a video clip she recently saw about the safe way to remove a tennis ball from your dog's throat that has gotten stuck. I have one lab that chases the ball, and another that jumps up to catch it. Considering the fact my vet brought it to my attention, and after watching that video, it scared me enough to not use the tennis ball for one of my labs. My vet suggested getting a bigger tennis-type ball, and this launcher and ball did the trick. The launcher is still easy to use, and I feel much better knowing it will be difficult for the ball to lodge in his throat. Really like this item!

The L stands for large ball, not large chuck it. This makes replacement balls prohibitively expensive. Unfortunately this may not be an item you can buy online
