overpowering gross smell

Only breath freshening treats my dogs will eat
My dogs love the bacon flavoured Crumps, I love that they are Canadian made. I have 2 Yorkie mixes over 10 years old. They are both around 10lbs with tiny mouths
My dogs love the bacon flavoured Crumps, I love that they are Canadian made. I have 2 Yorkie mixes over 10 years old. They are both around 10lbs with tiny mouths and they both have had to have teeth removed. They need something to help keep their teeth clean however they usually only like things like bully sticks or beef tendons which help clean their teeth clean for sure but don't really freshen their breath. These make their breath smell better and they will actually eat them unlike most breath freshening treats I've tried. They are just chewy enough to take about 6-10 minutes to eat, not too hard or too soft. The ingredients are good quality and I love that they are gritty to really help get rid of plaque buildup. One of my dogs eats these right up everytime but the other sometimes tries to hide it for later instead so I just soak the end in a little chicken broth for a few minutes and he eats it right up. You can also put a little coconut oil in the grooves to entice them more, it acts like toothpaste and adds healthy fat to their diet.

We have a 70lb griff, 30lb sheltie, and a 90lb chessie and all three of them can't get enough of these treats. These treats are pretty soft and do not break into shards. I break them in half often (very easy to do) so the bag goes twice as far. The glycerin chemically cleans the teeth while the oyster shell dust physically removes plaque. Our vet was very impressed with the cleanliness of all three dogs teeth! I think the price is right for the value they provide. It takes approx 5-10mins for them to be consumed, so not quite as long lasting as something like a bully stick.

Found bugs inside the bag
I’ve purchased this dental treat several times and never checked closely inside the bag before. Unfortunately, this particular bag had bugs in it. I didn’t notice

I didn’t notice until I pulled one treat out and a bug came with it. After checking inside the bag, I saw another live bug crawling around. I had to throw the entire bag away. For anyone who buys this product, make sure to inspect the bag carefully before giving it to your dog.

I am always looking for a dental chew that is effective and low glycemic or at least lower glycemic than the usual bars of pure starch. Crumps looked like a great possibility but my dogs did not agree. Additionally, ground oyster shell as the abrasive agent is concerning given that oyster shell is harder than enamel. So, like sand/grit embedded in the fuzz of a tennis ball, over time, this product will indeed scrub off the plaque and tarter but also the enamel.

Not palatable
My dog took one bite then wouldn’t chew these. I donated to the shelter and was told the large dogs did enjoy them!
