Had to buy a case since that was the only option. Kitty cats won't eat it, tried 4 different times. Kitties like the dry version and we have trusted Dr Elseys brand for years. We thought the kitties would enjoy the wet version but... the consistency is grainy the aroma is a bit unpleasant; overall it seems to be of poor quality. Too bad, makes me question the brand.

i was hoping an expensive pate from a very trusted brand with a good ingredient list would be enough to win over my picky cats, but it was not. i tried a bunch of different things, like mixing it with other food and churu, but instead all three chose to do a hunger strike rather than eat this for the whole day. i think part of it has to do with that this pate has very minimal smell compared to other cat food, even less than raw food. however, neighbor strays seemed to have very much enjoyed their leftovers, so i think it has a lot to do with preference i do wish my cats liked this pate. it feels clean and like real meat--it has minimal smell, some gravy, and excellent color. the pate also comes out from the can very easily, and it has been one of the easiest to empty and clean the can to then recycle. this is food that feels good to give to your babies, but sometimes your babies don’t appreciate the healthy food options

I have yet to find a food for my cat with allergies that "checks all the boxes." My cat was doing pretty well on the duck recipe but then the company changed the recipe and now the texture is like rubber. There is also an ingredient that another reviewer made me aware of that is not good for cats. I recently ordered another case just to slowly transition my cat to a different food. But what? I can't find an affordable pure novel protein wet pate canned cat food without gums.

Finding novel protein

Our newly adopted cat needs to start novel protein due to allergies, didn’t like duck then tried rabbit, now on to venison, nothing is working taste wise

The texture is odd

Never a good sign when no cat in the multi-cat household will eat it, even when mixed with their regular food.

It was very dry for pate

My cat was not a fan. As he gets older he seems to get pickier. He loves Blue Buffalo Duck. Not so much this one.

One of my cats pukes up anything with chicken in it. It took 11 years to figure that out, but now that I have, I will buy ONLY Dr. Elsey's canned duck recipe cat food. Changing food was a long process because I have 3 big boys to feed. Also, Dr. Elsey's changed the formula while I was getting them used to the new food, which almost cause a revolt. Blue Wilderness has duck and that wasn't too bad. They all liked it, but my "no chicken" boy, was still a bit pukey after eating it. Finally, got them on the new formula of Dr. Elsey's duck recipe -- canned only, no kibble -- which has NO chicken at all! HOORAY! All 3 of my boys are now lovin' it! I add just a tbsp of water (usually use it to rinse the can a bit), and it all gets gobbled with no puking kitties! I'm so relieved, and pray Dr. Elsey's doesn't change the wet duck formula ever again!
