Will it still work if my dog keeps licking the area I apply it to?

Dr. Maggie Skin Care Ointment is lick safe and non-toxic. Most dogs do not like the taste, as it is a little bitter. We would suggest bandaging up the area if possible to avoid licking and also require less applications. The product will still work, however if the dog licks, then you may need to apply the product more often.

My dachshund always gets neck and armpit rashes due to allergies. We’ve done everything, and usually lather her with coconut oil, but then she licks it and worsens the rash. Now with the ointment, our dog doesn’t want to lick it (as much) and its lubrication lasts for quite some time so the rash has time to calm down. Highly recommend!!

Mela had scabs on her from fleas. She a flea magnet, if there is 1 flea. It’s going to be on her. She scratches, gets scabs and losses her hair. I put a little on her back near her tail. The next day, the scabs were gone, her hair(that was there) and her skin felt smooth and healthy. Best of all, she wasn’t scratching where I had put the ointment!

Not the best product I have purchased and used for my furbaby but I did give it a chance. I prefer the 3 way ointment.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This cream seems to work well enough, although I had a difficult time preventing my dog from licking it off, which is obviously not the cream's fault but is something to note. Our dog has a dry patch on her elbow that I used it on a few times. It seemed to soothe the skin, and added some moisture to the area. It is very thick, a little thicker than a human-grade antibacterial cream but a bit more grainy in texture. It seemed to calm her dry patch, but did not heal it fully.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I choose this product specifically because of the ingredients and the likability. It was essential to me that the product was natural and safe. My dog has digestive sensitivities so I was happy with the natural and simple ingredient mixture. The product provides an effective salve but may be too lickable. My dog tends to lick his wounds or irritation spot heavily. He may have lessened its effectiveness because the product had a natural taste and smell. I was glad that it was a fast acting ointment so I did not need to cover the wounds or cone of shame my pup. His raw nose caused by rubbing due to allergies was soothed and healed quickly. With the springtime blooms, this could have become a recurring issue but the ointment cleared up the skin irritation within a couple days.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This ointment goes on easy, has no odor, and it’s okay if your animal licks it. I tried this on my pugs nose because it can become dry. If you have a pug, you know that you have to be careful to not get too much moisture in their wrinkle. This was a nice formula that I could just get on the nose easily. I’m not sure how well is worked only because my pug needs a lot of distraction to not go crazy when it is put on, lol!!! 😂 Although, his nose isn’t dry at all so I know it worked 😜

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Every spring my dog gets seasonal allergy spots where her skin will flake in round spots across her back. In the past, our vet has put her on allergy chews, but this year we used Dr. Maggie’s on her spots and they cleared them right up. The ingredients are healthy and all natural - including lanolin and beeswax. I feel comfortable putting this on my dog! It can also be used for rough paw pads.
