Paper-based litter is recommended for cat's that are declawed because it is soft and is less likely to irritate their paws.

I have a female spayed cat and her pee NEVER smelled that bad, there is no hint of ammonia locker as it’s marketed, it smells horrible from the day one, u need to dump all the litter out and wash litter box every refill otherwise it will stink; especially if you have plastic litter box. Only pro is that it’s not being spread around all the house.

the cost of it being just a bit higher than what you get in walmart is worth it for preventing odor. It's not 100% odor free but at least it makes an attempt at controlling odors and doesn't need to be changed as frequently as a cheaper brand of newspaper litter found at walmart.

Fantastic

The cat transitioned well to this from clumping sand. This is easy to empty and clean the tray

This litter is the best I’ve ever used. Cleaning the clumping little was a challenging event. Dust stink weight etc. using fresh news causes me to clean the box each day which keeps it always clean. It’s light weight, I only have to sprinkle a single layer in the box annd she scrapes it anll together when she’s done. I feel so much better Maisie always has a clean litter box to step in each day. You have to experience it to understand. Highly recommended, I’ll never use any other litter again.

I switched to this brand of cat litter when my cat got a mysterious allergic skin dermatitis (potentially from our corn-based cat litter). Still ruling out if that was the cause, but her skin has been great since we switched, so fingers crossed. This litter takes a little getting used to, but now I really like it. Some tips: If you scoop the pee shortly after they use it, you can easily tell the difference between soiled and clean litter because the pee-soaked pellets are darker and soggier. Once they dry, it's impossible to tell the difference. It's not the end of the world to miss out on the pee-litter because we generally put a smaller amount in the litterbox than we did with the clumping cat litter. Then we dump the whole thing out and refresh it with new litter about once a week. This actually keeps the whole thing smelling neat and clean all the time. The solid waste is really easy to scoop out daily. The only downside is if you are worried about your cat getting a urinary blockage (which my previous cat had once), it's a lot harder to confirm that the cat has peed each day. Once the pellets dry, it's hard to tell what happened in there. Also, this litter is not flushable, so you need to use bags of some sort to trash it. Feels really bad for the environment, but we got plant-based bags for this purpose - which ultimately increase the cost of using this litter. Still, it's a nice alternative to the corn-based litters. The Upside is that there is absolutely ZERO DUST of any kind.

My old lady didn't like clay litter. Her kidney disease meant she peed a LOT more in quantity than most cats, and it would result in clay litter caking between her toes. I switched her to this litter in a low-sided mortar tray per my vet's recommendation, and it helped her keep using the box for several more years. I do suggest putting a pee pad or some other absorbant liner under the litter, though. It takes time to absorb urine and since it doesn't clump, it can be harder to see what's soiled when you go to scoop and replace later. I can't comment about poop smell management, unfortunately, as my lady was on a medical CKD diet and her poops did not smell very much due to the low protein content.

There's pretty much no tracking because the litter is made of recycle paper pellets and either gets wet and stays inside the litter tray or the pieces that get thrown about when the kitty covers their business stays in its shape and is easily throw back into the tray. I much prefer this over the usual 'pellets' that you have to sieve to throw out the used bits which takes forever and is a much messier process. It's also far better (and more affordable) than other natural, biodegradable, or flushable litters because no matter what they advertise, there is ALWAYS tracking and more than you'd like... I'm never using another litter again.

I decided to switch from pretty litter because my cat Moss stopped having issues with crystals after her food was switched, and I was concerned about how dusty and small the pretty litter was because I’ve heard it has been affecting some cats lungs. Since the switch I was a little worried because of the size difference (Fresh News is a lot bigger) would bother them but it hasn’t at all! The kitties seem to like it and I’m a lot happier with the ease of cleaning, and the cost efficiency and sustainability of this litter! I change it’s fully more often, but the odor control is great and once you get used to differentiating the wet pellets from dry it’s a breeze to separate clean and dirty litter, and the litter left after scooping doesn’t seem to be affected or smell at all! Over all, very happy with Fresh News and I won’t be switching any time soon! Not endorsed just wanted to put my experience out there for other kitty parents!

I will never use another cat litter. Why use chemical stuff that you have to put in a plastic bag to put in the bin when you can just flush this down the toilet?
