I went through 3 other cat brushes before I finally found this one. My cat is American shorthair. He has a soft, downy under layer with a coarse surface layer. I need to be able to penetrate the fur to remove ticks without hurting his sensitive skin. This brush finally fit the bill. The combing spikes are soft and flexible, all metal, with a flat button like tip. There is no plastic coating to fall off. The handle grip is the rubber and easy to grip. The most important part is my cat doesn’t flinch away from the brush so I know the bristles aren’t hurting him. It is good quality and will likely last for many years.
