The Frisco Collapsible Pet Step & Storage is made of engineered wood and a polyester plush covering.

Can I collapse just the taller step (& keep attached) while still using the first step?

We recommend using the stairs as intended, with both steps fully assembled.

Could I buy two sets of these stairs and put them together for an extra wide step

I am so very pleased with this purchase. I looked at pet stairs until my eyes were bleeding. I needed something affordable and fast and I was willing to risk quality to test these out. The box they came in let me know these weren’t cardboard/fabric stairs. Heavy-ish. Well constructed. Solid materials. They took 3 seconds to “put together.” You open them up, put the floor insert in, and the “lids” are heavy enough that maybe our kitten won’t be able to pry them open like a raccoon. The lids are covered with a soft fuzzy fabric. The stairs are wide. Storage ample. Great for cat toys or couch throws or other cat supplies. I bought two sets and will definitely buy a third. This is a win! Highly recommend!!!

She won’t use it!

The concept of this seemed sound, but my 18 year-old kitty won’t use it. She likes to get on the daybed in my husband’s office and she was using his ergonomic chair to get up there, so we bought these steps. But i think the step is too far down for her. In the bedroom we have an actual ramp that she will use. So my husband just moved his ergonomic chair and got another chair to use for himself. We just put these steps in the attic. They are rather flimsy.

We now have 2 of these for our old and Special Needs cats. The most important thing is how STURDY these stairs are. Unsteady cats will not use steps that wobble in the least and the thick carpeting gives them better traction. Our Special needs girl even occasionally curls up on the top step for naps.

Holds up well from daily use except... the steps are poorly glued together

Pets think it's fine for window watching and bed access. The "carpet" fabric is a little slick so I wrap the top step in an old beach towel to help with grip.

My issue is that the steps were glued with a lot of glue but then barely pressed together, so the glue was not a lot of help. Dogs jouncing the steps caused separation. I had to use some small bolts and washers to force it all to hold together and stay flat. Otherwise, satisfactory for 3 years of use so far.

Junk

Only good for small cats. Even small dogs will quickly spring the bottom step and it is all downhill from there.

These stairs say they’re rated to 50 lbs, and I was worried about getting them for my senior 55 lb standard poodle. One of the reviews said they worked for his 70lb GSD, so I decided to try them. They are easy to put together and take apart, and my dog had no issues using them to get on the bed. I really needed them for my car, and they fit for him to get in the back seat. If they were a few inches higher, they’d belong perfect. But that’s more an issue of my car than the stairs. The dimensions of my car are such that a ramp wasn’t going to work, but these stairs saved the day. And my back!
