can this be screwed into plywood and how wide does it need to be?

This can be screwed into plywood. The suggested thickness would be 3/8-inch or thicker plywood. If the plywood is less than 3/8-inch, such as quarter-inch plywood, it’s likely that the wall may not be able to support the product in use.

How much weight can the shelf hold?

What is the distance between holes to drill in the wall? Will it match up with studs 16" apart in the wall?

The assembly hole spacing is 12.6 inch. This will not match up with a 16-inch stud spacing.

Great addition to my kitten’s activity wall. She took to it in no time climbing up the scratching post and jumping onto the shelf where she now hangs out. And no more fighting with the dog over the bed below. Sturdy. Easy to install. Helps if you have a drill bit extender to drive the wall screws through the holes just under the shelf when mounting shelf to wall. Looks good, too. Highly recommend

Had good supplies, the supports are a good type. I personally suggest drilling it into a stud to make sure it stays in the wall. The cushion is velcro so it can be easily detached for vacuuming. From opening the package to finished setup took less than ten minutes. Very nice.

These shelves bring me so much joy. I am always on the lookout for attractive cat furniture and this fit my vibe perfectly so I bought two, along with the clear acrylic bowl shelf made by Frisco (separate review, but Cooper is not a big fan of that one). Installation was a bit of a drama because my condo has all sorts of mysteries hiding behind the walls, but once I got them up man it was so worth it because Cooper LOVES THESE SHELVES. He's a big (13lb), long, zoomy cat, and they've held up wonderfully for about 2 months now hung with some toggle bolts that I bought separately. I even skipped the middle hole for the bottom shelf because it's so annoyingly hard to get a screw in there, and it's holding up--though I wouldn't have felt comfortable doing that for the higher shelves. The cushion stays put, easy to get fur off of. I guess my ONLY note is that the corners are very sharp, I have a scar on my arm to prove it, so they now have little plastic bumpers on them. Anyways, if you're on the fence, you gotta just get these shelves.
