Does lid prevent urine leakage?

There is no claim that the lid of this product will prevent leakage. There could be leakage for a cat that pees high.

Could this be used outside under an awning or would water still get in? (Are there holes in the top?)

The Frisco Hooded Cat Litter Box is designed as an indoor covered litter box with a solid plastic hood and a front entrance. It does not have intentional holes in the top. Rain or wind-driven moisture could still get in through the front opening or around the edges of the hood if exposed to weather, even under an awning.

Is the bottom completely flat or are there grooves or indentations for litter to get stuck in?

The bottom of the litter box has curved edges, it does not have grooves or indentations.

How and where do you put the filter?

Mine kept falling out into the litter. I even tried taping it inside the cover but it still ended up in the litter eventually

Good but dirty

The actual litter box works but when I received it, it was so dirty I had to wash it - which was the most disappointing thing.

One of my cats likes to pee as high as he can in the back corner of the litter box. Cleaning in between the lid and the tray became a pain in the bum. This box eliminates that, since the back is 13” high. A simple (disinfecting) wipe between full clean-outs does the trick. Highly recommend!

I like this box, gives plenty of room for our large senior cat to get around inside. Deep enough but not too deep for her to get in and out of comfortably. Did not like that two of the side clips which hold the top on broke after having it for several months. It makes it frustrating for our cat, because now when she scratches on the inside of the walls while in the box, the top moves because the clips broke! Disappointing. Otherwise a good choice.

I bought this when we rescued our sweet Gimli. I'm unsure how long they should last. I am thinking I don't want to purchase another litter box that will end up in the local dump...never decomposing. I hope I can just buy a new lid. The flaps that keep the lid on this litter box have now completely broken off. I could have been more gentle and maybe it would have lasted longer. The plastic flap that my cat walks through to get to the litter was the first thing to stop working...but that was 3 years later. Our Gimli is a aggressive cat litter cover upper...lol! I absolutely need a litter box that keeps as much litter off the floor and scattered throughout my house as possible.

Unfortunately, the dimensions listed in the description aren't quite accurate - the box tapers so much at the bottom that you lose several inches just for the design & the entrance is higher than described. I like that it's so big, and I like that it's nice and tall, but it's very flimsy and I'm worried about it breaking almost immediately. There's also no handle on the lid, so lifting the lid off to scoop is a little bit awkward. Finally, the filter is attached in such a weird way that it doesn't stay on securely. So, I like the size overall, but the construction and description needs a lot of work
