It is not recommended to cover the mat with a blanket. The mat uses a heat reflecting foil to reflects the pets body heat which generates the self-warming effect. Using a blanket over the mat prevents the self-warming effect.

I have bought these beds for years and they are always a big hit with my pets. When I had dogs, they loved them and now my cats love them too. I use them inside to make the floor in my drafty old house more comfortable and I also use them outside in the houses for the outdoor kitties. These beds keep the outdoor babies warm and toasty in the winter and they seem very happy. I definitely recommend these beds! Plus, they are a good price. If they kept my pets warm, safe, and happy, I'd be glad to pay a bit more though, but it's nice that I don't have to.

It is super-soft and comfortable and easily washed and moved from place to place. It alternates between the sofa (day) and bed (night) and she couldn't be happier. Great value!!
