Instructions
Please read all instructions and FAQs carefully before beginning your grooming. Use the FURminator Undercoat deShedding Tool only as directed.
Step 1: Undercoat deShedding can be performed at any time on a pet with a completely dry coat, but for best results it is recommended to be performed immediately after washing or drying.
Step 2: Before using the undercoat deShedding tool, perform a complete physical inspection of your pet. Look for sores, bruises and skin conditions, which you pet's coat may conceal. If your pet has any of these conditions, seek treatment from a veterinarian before brushing. In addition, before using the undercoat deShedding tool, remove tangles or mats with FURminator Fur Dematting Tool or Grooming Rake.
Step 3: Use the undercoat deShedding tool much like a brush, gently stroking across the pet's coat in the direction of hair growth, angling the stainless steel teeth towards the coat. Start from your pet's head and work your way back, using extra care near the stomach, legs, genitals, and anus. Avoid making excessive strokes in a single area, instead using fewer long, gentle strokes up and away from your pet's skin. Although the Skinguard design prevents digging in at edges and helps the undercoat deShedding tool slide over skin, deep or rough brushing can still irritate pet skin, so avoid brushing with excessive pressure. If you notice any redness or irritation discontinue use.
Step 4: As undercoat hair is collected by your tool, excess hair can be removed from the teeth of the tool by pushing the FURejector button.

Charlie is a rotti/mutt mix. His coat is coarse and short.. but he leaves a trail behind him of fur! Especially in the season changes. I have tried countless styles of brushes but none worked just right due to his coat. This brush is AMAZING. The only downfall in my opinion, is I wished the ends were "open" - with having the plastic on either end of the comb, it does make a bit awkward brushing him as those pieces are longer than the teeth by just a smidgen. But I still think it's amazing and I pulled a whole dog out of him in no time.

This may be a case of over hype. I'd heard so many good things about the furminator, I figured it was worth a try. I also purchased a deshedding blade at the same time. The furminator does seem to be more efficient in terms of strokes, but I felt as though it was removing more fur than it should have and i did notice thinning in a couple of places. The ejector button did not remove the collected fur when pressed, and the ability for that button to remain depressed in position for the storage guard to remain engaged and active failed miserably. We've had to keep the packaging in order to store the brush safely. I had hoped for more at this price point.
Excellent!
Works well as described. Not too big for my puppy who is still under 10lbs

I guess I got my hopes up with all the positive reviews. While the Furminator does take a lot of the undercoat off, it does not cut down on the amount of hair coming off my lab/corgi mix and onto my floors and car. I use it regularly and brush in between. Quite disappointed.

Bow wow WOW!!! I bought this exact grooming device after consulting with a dog spa owner that grooms PJ and asked what I could do at home to reduce shedding during the hot humid summers of Arkansas. She recommended the FURminator Short Hair Dog Deshedding Tool (orange, medium for our dog) as she demonstrated how to use it on him. It has been such a blessing: short light strokes decrease the fur and make him feel good as we can see an instant difference in his behavior, also giving us another opportunity to connect and bond with P.J. I highly recommend.
Good product

I've use this type of brush on my cats occasionally and they are fine, but when i tried it on the dog, she jumped and ran. Now if I even touch the brush she runs. I think because her hair is short with no real undercoat I may have scratched her. Will be trying it again eventually cuz she really sheds!
So worth it

I LOVE this brush. It picks up so much hair and dandruff. It holds the hair really well, preventing it from flying all over the place. The release can get a bit clogged from dandruff, but generally I can let the hair go with a flick of the wrist. It comes off in really satisfying half circles. I lightly rinsed it with water and pat dry with a napkin, but am going to try and take care of it a bit better as it was pretty pricey. But definitely worth the price. Been brushing my pitbull every day for the past three days and the difference is night and day.
The release button doesn't work that well

This was to replace a Furminator I had for years that eventually got some broken teeth. This new one works well pulling out dead hair and excess undercoat, but the button that you push to release the hair does not actually push the hair off the teeth. It's kind of frustrating because I have to use two hands then to get the hair off to continue. Other than that it works great - just like I would expect with a furminator.

I have always used these on my Great Danes. Unfortunately, I should have ordered for a longer coat type because this short hair has a hard time reaching all the way through his coat. Otherwise, still a wonderful product
Only tried to use it once.
