My dog had really bad skin issues when he was in his first year, so the vet put him on ketoconazole shampoo for his baths plus any skin and coat food. We chose iams because they have scientists and the ingredients looked decent compared to other cheap to middle ground bags. The price is worth! The other month we ran out and the store was out so we got him a bag of puppy chow (he’s a year and a half big breed) and his itchiness and hair loss returned immediately. When he first had skin issues, he had bald spots, it’s been a year and I’m still finding hair, it’s imbedded in the couch still even after professional cleaning, it was THAT bad. So this food really really solves a lot of the issues. Helps with his gross gas too lol.

Maggie has severed food allergies (adopted her last year & she was on a allergic diet ) the problem is she doesn’t like the salmon pro plan she wants to eat the chicken pro plan like her brother Scootet eats - so every meal endup adding a little bit of chicken but then it makes her itch. I have a Westie that has got a horrible skin infection now (she just to have a cytopoint injection Monday ) so I’ve just ordered the new Purina pro plan hydrolyzed chicken flavor and I’m hoping that will work-for my girls because two out of three of them are highly allergic( Maggie and Willow) I got this food I was hoping if I mixed in a little bit with her salmon, it may make her eat it, but she won’t eat it / I’ll donate it to the humane society - I’m truly hoping this helps my sweet Willow as well she has had crusty skin infection that she’s in antibiotics for and I think she’s est this ( bc it’s chicken flavor ?

As Charlie aged, other foods made him very sick with stomach issues, horrible skin allergies and loss of appetite. I'm talking expensive, highly rated kibble. This is the ONLY one he was interested in or was interested in eating. I truly believe this product is what allowed him such a long quality life. I have 4 other fur babies and this is the only kibble they will ever get.

I should have read the ingredients before I ordered. I wanted to step up my dog’s food by getting something healthier like salmon and it said it was for better skin and coat. The ingredients like chicken and chicken by products before it lists salmon. I am in the search again.
