The carbohydrate ratio of this recipe is 33.3%.

The food can be mixed; however, please note that doing so may affect the intended purpose of this recipe, as it is formulated to be a complete and balanced diet for cats with special needs.

Can this food be fed to other adult cats in the household which do not have urinary tract issues?

Healthy cats can generally eat urinary cat food, but it is not typically recommended as a long-term solution unless there is a specific need. Although urinary cat food is designed to help manage and prevent urinary issues, it may not offer the optimal nutrition for cats that do not have those problems. It is best to consult with a veterinarian to determine the appropriate diet for your cat's individual needs.

Will this food prevent oxalate crystals too?

Answer by ChewyJun 02, 2025
This diet is formulated to provide a slightly acidic pH to help maintain a healthy urinary system. The target urinary pH will likely range between 6.1 and 6.6, however, each cat's individual response may vary. It is not designed to treat any urinary conditions. We would recommend consulting with a veterinarian for clarity.

My cats have to be on urinary tract formula cat food and honestly, they’re ok with it, but it’s not as if they enjoy it. With this food, if the bowls become even half way empty, my little man Leo will be in my face crying to fill the bowls. I have another cat visa who I call my little super model, who couldn’t care less about food. But this food, she will hear it going in the bow and she comes running. This NEVER happen with her!! I have tried so many different foods but this is truly their favourite. Thank you!!

They eat it

My cats prefer this brand of urinary tract protection food. They finish their bowls each night. Buying it from chewy is like buying it on sale every time.

Unfortunately, none of my 4 cats are loving this food. We have been transitioning slowly to this food, but as soon as I added it to their current food, I've found leftover food in all their bowls after meal times. This is not something that ever happens, until this food was introduced. I was trying to cut costs a bit, but now I'm concerned that I'll end up costing myself(in vet bills) in the long run because two of the cats have puked it up, and one of the cats has been in the litterbox far more often than usual, so I'm really hoping this isn't the start of urinary issues.

I was skeptical about switching because my cats absolutely love the expensive prescription food. And that food works extremely well but with 3 cats on it it’s getting expensive. With their urinary problems behind them, I talked to my vet about switching and found Iams urinary health, and it seemed to have great reviews. Well, my cats also love it! After fully switching, they eat their full bowls. My cats have their first check up later to make sure the food is working well for them. Definitely recommend!

I have one male cat that was having problems with crystals in his urine. He was a feral that grew up on MM and I read that this can happen so I switched him to Royal Canin SO Rx catfood, and although it's an excellent catfood, it's very expensive. It did clear up his urine issues, so now I mix it with with Iams urinary health (to go further) and he continues to do well! So I am happy with both!

I appreciate that this food does not seem to have a lot of "powder" or small particles like some other foods. The kibble is a good size so my elderly cat can eat it without a problem. He does not seem crazy about it and would probably not eat just this, but I mix it with two other urinary health cat foods and he does eat it.
