What is the shelf life once opened. I have purchased these previously, but the last bag really smells “oily”

Each bag will be slightly different based upon the number of male or female Capelin in the bag. A bag that has more female Capelin in it will contain more oil and will appear softer with a stronger smell. This is totally normal and is actually a good thing as the product contains a higher level of Omega oils. The unopened bag is shelf-stable for 2 years at least. After opening, and if properly re-sealed between treatings, the Capelin will last at least 2 to 3 weeks.

Are these a long lasting chew? Like a bully stick, or do they crunch them and eat them right up.

These Icelandic Capelin treats are easy to eat, and they are not intended to be a long-lasting reward.

Can this be given to cats as well as dogs?

My shepherd/husky mix loves these. Unfortunately, they've been discontinued. Seems the Capelin catch has failed the last couple of years. That makes it tough to get a reliable supply that meets US regulations (no air dried fish longer than 4.5 inches. go figure). However, Icelandic+ is coming out with air dried Herring for both dogs and cats.

Our labs received their first bag of Capilin fish treats from the Dachshunds cousins. I thought they were unusual and wondered how our Labs would like them. They absolutely LOVE these little fishes! I will take one and break it into three pieces and share a piece with each pup. Over the cause of a day they may get one full fish.

They are a good size too, each fish is maybe 3 or 4 inch long. They are on the expensive side so I will be watching out for any promotions so I can stock up.

The fish are huge and my dog only has 2 teeth so I have been soaking the fish overnight to soften them before serving. My little Silky Terrior loves them!
