You can remove the top 2 straps from the suction cups and then open the window.

How do you get it to sit in an upright position and stay that way?

To get the perch to sit upright, push the suction cups to ensure a proper adhesion and align each support strap. Be sure to adhere the Push-n-Turn suction cups to the window, taking care to keep similar tension on each strap. Turn the tension knob counter clockwise to loosen the cup mechanism. Loosen it until it almost comes off the threaded post. Locate the proper spot on the window, seat the suction cup against the window and firmly push the end of the knob to remove air from the cup. Slowly turn the tensioning knob clockwise until tight. For a complete list of instructions, please visit the instructions tab just below the product details (located under the product photos).

The Push 'n' Turns suction cups are designed to be used on glass only.

Luna and Shadow love sharing this space. They smack at each other playfully while enjoying the scenic, sunny view. Best spot in the house. Very sturdy and they love the soft cozy material on the seat itself! Folds up nicely so we can pull down the blinds in the evening. As long as you follow the directions, clean the windows well before use and have quality windows, this product is as sturdy as any other ‘sunny seat’ on the market.

It rarely comes off the window. Maybe every 6-8 months one of the suction cups comes off and I have to reapply it. Great investment!

They put a sticker on the fur which was annoying to get off, I had to use a hair dryer to melt the stickiness to peel it off

Cat loves it. She is small (9lb), but loves to play on it, chasing her tail through it, attacking the cords, jumping onto it from a distance. It is holding up well (has been up about 3 weeks), and it was easy to put up with good instructions. My only complaint is what others have noted about similar products: the really stupid sticker placement that I ended up carefully trimming off with my smallest sewing scissors. If I cared that much about the aesthetics, this would have been a return. (So, really, 4.5 stars).

The seam on the top support strap came undone while they were on it. (The cats are fine). Will contact support to see what they can do.
