The Litter-Robot 3 Connect includes the fence.

Does this plug into the wall or is it battery operated?

The Litter-Robot plugs into a wall outlet, but you can purchase a backup battery accessory (sold separately) if desired. In the event of a power outage, the backup battery provides 24-48 hours of use in power-saving mode.

What is the best litter to use with the Litter-Robot 3?

Litter-Robot works well with almost any clumping or scoopable litter. Litter beads and crystals that are small enough to pass through the screen will also work in the Litter-Robot. Alternative, plant-based litters may also work, but these tend to form looser clumps that can cause condensation in the waste drawer. The Litter-Robot is not compatible with litters that are strictly absorbent, non-clumping, loose-clumping, newspaper-based, or wood-based pellets.

How much does the collection bin hold?

The waste drawer is 5.00” x 12.50” x 16.00” and you can use Litter-Robot custom-fit, biodegradable Waste Drawer Liners or any 10-13-gallon trash bags.

The litter robot is good at keeping itself clean and I'm happy that I don't have to scoop daily anymore but oh my goodness, the smell is so awful. I live in a studio and sometimes the smell of the litter robot makes my entire place smell horrible. I clean the robot regularly with an enzymatic cleaner and I change the tray often too but it still smells and I've only had it for a few months. I would have honestly returned this thing if it wasn't so good at self cleaning. I really hated scooping everyday so I kept this thing despite the smell. To deal with the smell I had to buy an expensive $200 air purifier (Ikea Starkvind with additional gas filter) to keep next to it and that helps with the smell quite a bit but I shouldn't have had to do this considering how expensive this litter robot is. If you don't mind the chore of cleaning a regular litter box then I would say this is NOT worth the price.

My one cat has been using this for over 6 months. At times, it does not cycle on its own so I unplug it and power it back up and that usually works after the 1st attempt, by the 3rd try for sure. Damp litter sometimes gets stuck to the inside despite using even the Tidy Cats recommended brand. I shouldn't have to check it twice a day to make sure it's working.

Wanted so bad to simply love the litter robot 3 but between being noisy when it cycled and never weighing my cat, I felt duped. Not one to return anything, however I must have just gotten a bad one after all my troubleshooting to “fix” to no avail. So I live chatted my concerns to Chewy and allowed me to return it. Immediately ordered the Litter Robot 4, couldn’t be happier, everything works exactly like it should right out of the box. Chewy stood behind their services!

After the first use the Litter Robot malfunctioned. The inside was on its side without litter. The cats used their old litter box until it became so disgusting that they had to use the Litter Robot. One of the cats adapted rather quickly, but it took a long time for the other cat to trust it. Both the cats are using it now, but I check frequently to make sure that it hasn't malfunctioned again.

My family constantly comments on how bad it smells. It smells even after I have just cleaned it. Litter remains inside the dome between the rubber and outer casing. I’m not sure how it gets in there. The rubber liner retains smell. It should be made with some material that doesn’t do this. The cat urine mixed with litter sticks to the rubber bottom and is impossible to clean. The weighted piece inside that is supposed to drop down and push the rubber liner down to knock some of the litter off does not work and to drop down so the liner just stays affixed to the top outer piece even when it is cycling upside down. Finally, the sensors detect something in there even when there is not and I have several times found it stuck in the upside down position making it unusable to where I have to push a bunch of buttons in trial and error fashion until it finally resets. Oh, and did I mention the smell??
