The natural flavor is animal digest, which is carefully processed from high-quality protein sources such as the muscle and soft tissue of pork and poultry. This ingredient is commonly used in pet food to enhance flavor and ensure a taste that cats love. Please know that Merrick holds their ingredient selection to high safety and quality standards to provide the best for your pet.

Our girl has been eating Merrick pate's for YEARS. But the inconsistency is now enough to drive us cat parents crazy! This was yet another case she wouldn't eat. After trying so many different cans from the case....just in case (pun intended) ;) .....we have given up on it and the rest we donated to the shelter where we adopted our little "furry tuxedo" six years ago this month. The same had happened with the Rabbit and the Turkey, but the chicken recipe HAD stayed true to her palette. Looking into different brands now. It's a bummer, because ingredient wise there was much to love about this food. Especially being Carrageenan free.

Both of my cats loved this cat food. I gave it to them for breakfast and they gobbled it up, but later on the 3rd day they both began vomiting, one of them repeatedly and violently. It was the first time he’d ever been sick in the 6 years I’ve had him. Nothing had changed except for them eating this for breakfast.

6 month old feral kittens we rescued were vomiting and had loose stools. Tested negative for worms and leukemia. Finally figured out that it was food related. They really like the Merrick Chicken Limited Ingredient. The turkey flavor, not at all. Also switched their kibble. That's in another review.

My cat really likes this food. I ordered it as a replacement for a similar food that was out of stock. Happily surprised.

Terrific ingredients and texture. I add 2-3 tablespoons of water and mush it up before serving, so they get more hydration in their diet. Both cats really like this

Max is a pate kitty and this is one of his favorites. Love that it has limited ingredients. As others have mentioned, some of the cans in a case may have dents but it hasn't affected the quality of the food inside. I think Merrick uses a much thinner metal. They open super easy, though, which is nice. It's more expensive than other brands but based on the ingredients and the fact that Max loves it -- it's worth it to me.

My Ace was diagnosed feline diabetic a few years, which would mean blood-sugar testing and shots (yikes!). In the interest of educating myself on this disease I ran across a great group of other parents of diabetic fur babies. Of all that I learned there, the most helpful was the special dietary needs. I began feeding Ace the limited ingredients food and his diabetes has gone into complete remission. NO MORE NEEDLES!!! Now, I can't conclusively claim that this cured him, but it certainly was a pivotal point in his health. I couldn't be more grateful. Ace wil turn 19 years old in Sept and I hope he can stick around for a while.
