My Hyundai Palisade was in a major accident with my two Golden Retrievers in the back in their Midwest 36” side by side SUV crates. We side swiped an oak tree at high speed which crushed the left side of the car at the rear axle. The crates held up though one corner of one crate was partially crushed. Both dogs were uninjured. I was taken by ambulance to the trauma center. My observation is that these SUV crates are made of a higher gauge metal than the normal Midwest crate. They are up to the task protecting animals in traffic accidents. I am so confident in these crates I purchased two more for my replacement vehicle. dogs were uninjured.

Good quality crate

I needed a crate they was taller and narrower, this one fit the bill perfectly, it’s also thicker and sturdier than previous crates I’ve had.

Much thicker wire than most and I needed the front and back doors.

Really easy to 'assemble.' Flip clips and pull and you have a cage. It reminds me of pop-up tents, but this is much easier. I didn't get it for a car transport - I'm using it as a pass-through for my dog to go in and out of her doggy door in the sliding glass doors. This way, I can keep her penned up if needed while still giving her access to the outdoors. The only issue (mine only) is that I hoped to be able to remove one of the doors completely - this is so sturdy, I can't do it.

I have had the single door version of this SUV crate for almost 20 years, and it is still in excellent condition. It is a heavier gauge wire and very well made, much sturdier than the home crates that Midwest manufactures. I purchased a new SUV recently and wanted to have a crate with a front and back door but am personally not a fan of the various car crates that have become prevalent over the last 15 years or so. I was thrilled to discover that not only did Midwest still make this very sturdy wire crate, they now have a 2-door option. Icing on the cake was Chewy having it on sale.
