The Natural Balance does not have the values available in 100 calories. This recipe contains 1.31 grams of Phosphorus per 1,000 calories. This value is based on their typical (average) analysis of the product, so natural variations can and do occur.

what % protein comes from animals and where is this formula manufactured?

Answer by NefertitiMSep 30, 2021
The animal and plant protein ratios are proprietary to the manufacturer and their formulas. This recipe is made in the USA. The manufacturer will source their high-quality ingredients within the United States depending on availability. However, certain ingredients will need to be outsourced (i,e: Lamb, Venison, Duck, Rabbit, Vitamin Packs, etc.) to ensure top quality and freshness while meeting a reasonable price point for pet parents.

My medium sized white Poodle developed serious hot spots at age 5. After much medical intervention and disbelief on my part he was allergy tested and found to be allergic to everything he had been eating: chicken, beef, salmon, and wheat. I had to find a healthy alternative. He is not allergic to duck, turkey, rice, or potato; so I tried Duck and potato. It worked. By the time the bag was consumed he stopped licking and the hot spots filled in with fur again. He likes the small bites, and consistent high quality of the food.

Our little Maltese puppy was on a prescription food for sensitive stomach from the vet. He did not enjoy eating it. In fact, he would skip meals on occasion. We tried several limited ingredient dog foods and they didn’t work for him. Then we tried this limited ingredient duck and potato food. Wow! He loves eating now, rushes to his bowl and dances when he’s being fed. The best part is, his stomach issues are resolved on this food. We use both the wet food and dry kibble and are quite happy with it!

My pup has been eating this food for a few years now. I order two bags at once since my other pup eats a different flavor due to food sensitivity. When the box arrived, this bag of duck and sweet potato was split on its front like it was cut with a knife. I didn’t think anything of it since the shipping box was still securely closed and the food looked ok. However, after a few weeks, my dog has been sick everyday and having terrible diarrhea. We love this food but seeing my baby this sick is terrible.

We have been happy with Natural Balance duck and potato small bites for over a year. Our dog has issues with digestion, and it has worked well. I decided to try duck, because I had seen reviews about bone shards in the NB salmon and sweet potato. Well, I recently found a sharp bone shard in my dog's kibble, and several other pieces that were not as bad, but enough for me to switch to something else with a protein that is deboned prior to processing.
