We’ve purchased several slow feeders in the past for our pup. While past purchases done what slowed our pho down when she ate, this one is by far the best one. She no longer chokes when she eats it’s the pace is much slower and it provides her with stimulation.
Slows the gobbling and adds some fun

Our teething puppy was making himself sick from eating his food too quickly, so this dish was a must-have. He loves it! We use it for each of his daily meals, and it takes him several minutes to work all of his kibble out of it. We've also tested it out with pieces of treats, which he loves. He occasionally gnaws on the bowl with his little sharp puppy teeth, but aside from a couple of expected marks, the plastic has held up to his efforts very well, haha. He also likes to carry it around like it's a toy. Probably not the best model for anyone with a dog that's likely to just dump the food on the floor and hoover it (it's not weighted, so a clever pup will figure out how to flip it and get their food immediately!), but I'd definitely recommend this to anyone who's just looking for a slow feeder for their small dog or a bit of a puzzle for treats.

Puppy has chewed all sides of this feeder. Not a great choice of feeder.

This was my third attempt to buy a bowl that would slow down my dog's eating time. The first bowl was too wide and the second one was too narrow and had different levels which made it hard to get the food out. This bowl works well - one level and sections wide enough, but not too wide for him to get at the food. The bowl only holds 1.5 cups of food, so if your dog eats more than that at a meal, the bowl will be too small.

In the 30 years with dogs, we have never had concern about fast eaters. Enter 2 7 month olds and talk about inhaling their food! I was shovkrd. We tried various things and got nowhere so I turned to Chewy. Matched to this product and others like it. Fast eating problem gone with the very 1st use. For both dogs! Amazing product. Cleans up easily and delivers advertised results!
so much better

My pup used to eat his whole bowl of food in less than a minute and then throw it up soon after. Once we switched to this bowl, he takes more time to lead the food to the center so he can reach it. And his poor sister gets to eat her food in peace now as well instead of him finishing his and then going over to steal hers when he is done since they both finish at the same time now! It's also easy to wash and dishwasher friendly.
Very large, but works perfectly!
I took a picture next to her other bowels to show you how large it is. The next size down from Outward Hound is the small mint colored bowl, but they only have it
I took a picture next to her other bowels to show you how large it is. The next size down from Outward Hound is the small mint colored bowl, but they only have it in that shape. My dog only gets 1/3 or 1/2 scoop each time she eats. The smaller slow feeder only gave her an extra minute or two of eating. This teal, large bowl actually makes her take about 10-15 minutes to eat her food. The ridges are very deep in this bowl. She has to lick it because she's only 15 lbs. She ends up licking it in a circle sometimes. It says you can fit 2 cups, but if you need to feed your dog 2 cups, this won't slow them down as well. The smaller OH bowl was up to 3/4 cup, but the issue is then all the food is already at the top. I do wonder if they made a smaller size if it could still work. For now, I'm very happy with this bowl other than the space it takes up.
Not truly dishwasher-friendly
It's advertised as skid-proof and dishwasher safe, but the bottom is not flat: it is contoured to the shape of the molded plastic on the upper side. Like a hollow
It's advertised as skid-proof and dishwasher safe, but the bottom is not flat: it is contoured to the shape of the molded plastic on the upper side. Like a hollow mold. Therefore, if you put it in the dishwasher, all the dirty, soapy water will collect in the hollows when you wash it, potentially spilling on your other dishes and getting them dirty too, even after the rinse cycle completes. If they say it's skidproof and dishwasher safe, it should have a truly flat bottom with a skidproof rough surface. Thanks!
Great! Except for food gets stuck in outer ring.

In use for about a month for two big dogs. The dogs are calmer and slower with these bowls, which means meals last a few minutes instead of a few seconds. Made of very sturdy smooth plastic -- no teeth marks at all so far and easy to clean. Non-skid bottom works well. BUT, the outer ring is much narrower than the inner rings, and bits of kibble or other food chunks get caught there. The dogs polish the inner rings but usually 1-6 chunks get left behind. My boyz just give up. It can be a bit of work for me to clean out those residues, too. I've used other designs of slow-feeder bowls by Outward Hound, and this is the only design that I've had a "stuck food" problem with.
