How do you recommend attaching a leash to this life vest?

This life jacket is not designed to attach to a leash. You can leave your dog's collar on and attach the leash to the D-ring on the collar.

My dog is disabled and cannot swim. Would this keep her afloat if she accidentally ended up in the water?

This life jacket does not have a D-ring attachment.

My dog weighs 45 pound and hid girth if 27 1/2. What size should I get. He is a medium size golden doodle.

The sizing chart may be located by clicking the “Size” tab, on the product page. To select the best size we recommend that you measure your dog's length, chest girth (circumference) and neck girth (circumference). To measure the length you'll measure starting at the base of the neck and end at the base of the tail. To measure the chest girth you'll measure around the broadest part of the rib-cage behind the front legs and to measure for the neck girth you'll measure at the broadest part of the neck. If the dog happens to be in between sizes, it's then recommended to select the bigger size.

We've purchased this jacket multiple times over the years, its only weakness is that it needs a little more reinforcing around the handles since that's usually where the stitching starts to fray. We recently had a capsizing of our canoe in open water with our dog onboard. She was able to make it to shore in rough water, and we were able to lift her 50 lbs+ back into the canoe safely and easily. If you inspect the jacket before adventuring, it's a real lifesaver.

I'm in the (slow) process of trying to get my dog to love swimming in preparation for when she's older and needs a low-impact exercise. The facility I took my dog to recommended Outward Hound for a lifevest, and I'm very happy with the results. It was easy to put on and adjust. It allows my dog the freedom to move both in/out of water and also has two handles along the dog's back so I or anyone else in the water can lift her up. While my dog may never be a water-loving pup, I'm so happy I have a bit of extra reassurance just in case.

This life jacket is awesome! It opens up completely so dogs who are shy about things going over their heads won't have to worry. Our dog loved it - she actually preferred to swim with it on because the chin float kept her ears out of the water. The handles on the back are sturdy - I was able to lift her safely onto the dock (and she's 70 lbs). Fit is easy to customize to different body types. And construction is really good, too. Highly recommend.
