While any restraint in the vehicle is better than none, it is important to note that this was designed as a walking harness. The risk imposed by using it in the car would be the cat chewing the straps to escape.

Will this work for a cat missing one front leg?

I got this harness once a long time ago (and then lost it T_T) and have been looking for it again ever since. It's the best harness I've tried so far for walking a cat that may or may not decide to bolt at a moment's notice anytime there's a loud, unexpected noise. It didn't happen often, but it was always a risk, so I never felt comfortable trying to walk my scaredy cat of a cat without it. She can't back out of it, and with the little rubber stopper, it can be kept tight enough that she can't twist out of it (before I can grab her anyway) without being too tight for her to walk and move. Really is the best option I've found so far <3

Gosh I want to love this harness so much and I guess I do because it is so cute and secures her really well but I can tell my cat doesn’t like it. It does take a while to figure out what way is up and what holes her arms go in but once I got it on her she acts like it weighs 100 lbs for some odd reason even though its the most minimal option. Then she just kinda flops down in it and won’t really walk anymore. Maybe she would do this with any harness but I can’t figure it out. Anyway the color is great and the product is wonderful in theory and maybe it will be in practice for you. 3 stars and a half if it was allowed.

This product will release your cat if too much pressure is put on it. My cat was startled by a car door while on a walk outside and she pulled so hard the clips opened. She took off across the yard and I had to grab her as she went into flight or fight and severely injured me. She was afraid and it wasn’t her fault. She had never been loose before and she was highly fearful. However, the product description is not accurate. It is not safe. There is an amount of pressure that will open the clips. Pet Safe is lying to their customers. I will be filing a complaint against them and writing a review across every platform I can find. I will be contacting the BBB and other organizations. My cat is everything to me. If I would have lost her it would have destroyed me. I would have never recovered from that. My cat and I are both very traumatized after using this product. Do not risk your cat’s safety with this company or product.

Haven't tried them as yet because it is winter here in Iowa and my kittens haven't been allowed outside as yet. I do have a problem with the side fasteners as they are too small for my hands to operate (because of my age ) so I haven't adjusted the harness for size as yet. Don't think I will find that part user friendly.

Both of my cats are fitted in these harnesses (thank you Chewy for refunding me when my kitten outgrew the small before I could even put it on him!) and they function very well. Adjusted properly neither of them can slip out of it even when: -Deciding to jump out of the stroller they're hooked into -Performing olympic-level acrobatics because the toddler across the street is strange and terrifying -Backwards is now their favorite direction to go Make sure to adjust the front chest piece up so the shoulder straps stay in place and don't slip down. That's been the key to keep them in the harness, at least for me. It's not a perfect harness though and I have a few complaints: -The rubber stopper wears out quickly. It's an important part of keeping the whole setup snug, so that's unfortunate. I have mine reinforced with a hair tie for security. -If the cat ends up pulling and gets the harness super tight, it doesn't loosen by itself very well and I have to reach down and adjust it myself. -I don't like the bungee leash, personally. If there's an emergency and I have to pull my cat to me quickly, the leash makes that more difficult and slower. I have replaced mine with regular flat leads.

Just enough fabric it’s escape proof but not enough to where to hard to put on or uncomfortable for them. He didn’t even do the floppy roll over “can’t walk” thing he normally does with new harnesses. Really really, recommend. ALSO, THIS IS THE CHEAPEST HARNESS IVE BOUGHT!

Before she chewed it It was also I would say hard to adjust to get the right fit and it needs to be tight for a cat to not be able to escape. The most recommended harness that I’m aware of and it had a fatal flaw.
