This travel crate does have a solid bottom for pet's to sit on. It would be a solid pad that you lay down once the crate is fully expanded.

Can two of these be zipped side by side? Or is there a version of this that would go all the way across the rear seat?

There is not a way to attach two of these travel crates to each other. One would need to be installed behind each of the two front seats.

Do pets still need to be seat-belted?

The Collapsible Travel Crate itself does need to be secured with the seat belt, but the pet does not have to be buckled in themselves.

If the back panel was also made of mesh, that would be perfect. Another thing is that it would be great if it had a seat belt inside for extra safety. I just added one. 5/5 stars this is perfect for frenchies

We decided to give this carrier a try and are really happy with it- so is Stella! We pair it with some thunder-ease spray to further decrease her anxiety.
