The ramp is not weatherproof. It should not remain outdoors as a permanent fixture.

How do you lock the length so it doesn't telescope itself open or closed when in use? And how do you lock it to car to prevent it sliding or falling while in use?

This pet ramp comes with a built-in latch to prevent the ramp from extending when closed. When opened and in use, the advanced design of the ramp holds itself in place when weight is applied, so there is no need for extra devices to lock the ramp in position. When finished, simply push the inner slide back into the closed position, re-snap the safety release tab, if desired, and stow in a convenient place. It is important to make sure the rubber feet on the upper and lower ends of the ramp are resting firmly on a stable surface (car bumper, sidewalk, etc.) before using. If the rubber feet are not firmly in contact with a stable upper and lower surface, the ramp could shift when used.

Sadly, it's not the best for our pooch, but we can't seem to find anything else. It slides easily and I fear it's going to take off my fingers when setting up. It's still steep coming out of a Subaru even though we got the longest ramp there seems to be available, and Baxter is still weary of it, but he will use it with help from us up and down. The ramp clips for security but on the opposite side of where it slides out. I find this awkward and dangerous.

We needed a long heavy duty ramp to load our 50lb doodle into a raised 4x4 truck and over a bolstered car seat. This was a perfect choice. It is easy to extend and retract and yet strong enough for our dog to run up when fully extended. It’s a bit on the steep side when extended to full length, but he handles it like a little goat. Great purchase!

We needed an extra long ramp to help our dog who just had a TPLO avoid using our 5 front steps. At 43 lbs, she was getting heavy to carry up and down the front stairs every time she needed to go potty. This is our second design of a dog ramp. The first was plastic, heavy, and was not secure on our front step. This one was much more expensive, but it is secure on the steps, and our dog actually uses it! We did buy some 3M safety treat tap and put is across the ramp every 10 inches or so to give our girl extra traction. It is money well spent, and we are so happy we decided to get this dog ramp.

I have a back injury and 100 pound dog and he has joint issues. We needed something to help him get in and out of the back of our SUV. This is very well-made, but unfortunately ridiculously heavy. I tried to look up the weight on here and I’m not seeing it, but I can’t lift it and I am 5 foot six and 135 pounds. It would be dangerous for me to lift it with my back, but my daughter lifted it who is 61 and said she thought it was ridiculously heavy as well. It’s so heavy that it’s too cumbersome to get into position and there would be no way for me to Slide it into the car for use on the other end of the ride. Would probably be great for somebody who is without back issues and strong because as I said, it is very well-made.
