This collar is not for use with an inground fence system. It is compatible with the Pawz Away® Indoor Pet Barrier Transmitter, the Pawz Away® Outdoor Pet Barrier, the Pawz Away® Mini Pet Barrier and the Pawz Away® Threshold Pet Barrier.

does the collar emit sonar waves that repel birds so my cat can no longer kill birds

This collar is not designed to repel birds.

Is this all I need to get started or do I need an underground fence line?

Extra collar is easy to pair however the system is very touchy and not reliable. My kitties would sneak out and I would have to turn it off so when she came back she wouldn’t get corrected by being outside the door.

Sadly, these lasted less than 6 months. We attempted to change the batteries, but found the internal system was broken. We bought 4, only 2 died, but we also purchased a number of other items to go with this system. Chewy refunded us for the two collars very quickly. I went to reorder and found they're no longer available...this was quite an investment for a product that failed.
