About This Item
Details
- Non-clumping natural pebbles made from USA-sourced diatomaceous earth contain no chemicals, additives, fragrances, or dyes.
- This litter works quickly to absorb moisture and dry out waste, giving you superior odor control for weeks in single-cat households.
- Highly absorbent natural pebbles use less litter than clumping litter, so an 8-pound bag replaces 40 pounds of traditional clay litter.
- This litter can be used with any type of litter box or pan (sold separately), though it’s designed to perform best with ScoopFree Crystal Self-Cleaning Litter Boxes (sold separately).
- Simply pour the natural pebbles into your furbaby’s litter box to a depth of 2 inches, remove the solid waste and mix the litter, then change it when absorption decreases.
Ingredients
Diatomaceous Earth.
Instructions
Most cats adapt easily to ScoopFree boxes and use it within a week. If your cat needs help adjusting, try these tips:
- Leave your cat's old litter box next to the ScoopFree box.
- Add a few handfuls of your cat's old litter to the ScoopFree litter tray and add a few handfuls of the ScoopFree crystal litter in your cat's old litter box.
- Stop cleaning the old litter box. As the old litter becomes more shallow and dirty, your cat should start using the cleaner ScoopFree box.
- If your cat is startled by the raking noise, turn off the ScoopFree box and scoop waste manually for a few days until your cat is used to the new box.
If you have a kitten under 6 months old, we recommend leaving the box unplugged and scooping waste manually. You can start getting her used to using the litter box with these tips.
- Kittens have a natural reflex to use the bathroom after eating, playing, or napping. Put your kitten in the litter box after these activities to help her associate the litter tray with the instinct.
- Place the litter box away from the food and water bowl. Cats prefer not to use the bathroom near where they eat and drink.
- Put the litter box in a quiet, visible place where she can get to it quickly. Getting all the way across the house to find the litter box could result in accidents. The location should also be safe and quiet so your kitten won't be startled or distracted.
- Keep the box clean. Scoop waste often and change the litter tray every few weeks. Cats and kittens prefer a clean box.
- Stir the litter crystals once a week to distribute saturated crystals. Kittens pee more often than adult cats, so the litter box will get dirty more quickly.

I received a bag of this litter free on promotion when I purchased a litter box. Previously, we had only used pine pellets and grass litter. This clay based in the shape of tiny discs. First, no litter can be magical and scoop free - input equals output and it’s got to be scoped. Second, it scatters everywhere leaving chalky residue on the floor. See photo for an example of a single piece of litter that got under foot and marked the floor. Overall, it’s not a contender and we will continue to use grass litter. Currently we use Chewy’s Frisco brand grass litter and love it.
Great non clumping litter

I’ve seen a lot of negative reviews, but so far I am loving this litter! I foster cats/kittens and when young kittens are litter training I have to use a non clumping litter. I did not find it dusty at all. I’ve only been using for a few days, but so far there is zero smell. Prior to this I was using a generic non clumping clay litter and when the kittens went to the bathroom, it would turn black and STINK. This litter literally absorbs the urine. Sure you’re gonna have a little bit of tracking, but there isn’t a litter out there that’s 100% tracking free. These are also bigger chunks of litter, so much easier to see and clean. Safe and no odor is a win for me!
Too Stinky!

I was really hopeful this would replace the crystal litter required for my Petsafe Scoopfree litter box, but NOPE. Originally it seemed ok, kind of dusty, but no major complaint there. After just a few days, the pee smell is just too much to handle. Maybe one day I’ll find a non-clumping litter that performs well, but today is not that day.
This was nice litter
We had kittens and this worked out wonderful for them to start learning how to use a litter box. It was good quality litter.

On the rocks
This litter is durable and works okay, but it tracks heavily and you will be stepping on tiny rocks for the rest of your days.

Sub-par litter
I’ve used a lot of different kinds of litter with my cats over the years. Most kinds will have their pros and cons, some litters work better for some households
I’ve used a lot of different kinds of litter with my cats over the years. Most kinds will have their pros and cons, some litters work better for some households than others. My cats are not too picky as long as the box is clean and smells ok. I got this litter for free as many other reviewers did but I don’t think I will be buying this kind. The dust is a lot more than what I’m used to, and the cats don’t seem to like it either. They used it but after a few times avoided the box this litter was in and opted for one of their other litter boxes even if it was not as clean. This litter just doesn’t work for my cats.

I used this with 4 kittens about 6 weeks old and although they could still make a mess with it I would think an older cat would get in, do their business and get out so it wouldnt be messy. I am on line now with Chewy to see if I can buy a larger bag or maybe 2 more small ones because I do like it and feel that if the kittens ( or my chihuahuas) eat any of this it would not be dangerous since they are 100% natural pellets. Buy it and try it. I think you will like it.
Great concept, so/so execution

I was excited to try this because a) it was free and b) the ingredients are super safe and non clumping. Unfortunately, I think this is only an option for households with one or two kitties. I tried it in a room where abount 5 cats routinely used it, and it didn't hold up at suppressing the smell. Part of that is it's non-clumping, so as with all non-clumping litter the pee tends to soak/sit at the bottom. It was also high tracking- but about equal to normal clay litter. This could be mitigated with a very high sided litter box such as a plastic tote. But if you have super diggers (I do) and a box with an easy entry on one side for geriatric cats, and/or a lot of cats, skip this option. I will say - they all appeared to like it and want to use it, so if you're on the hunt for a product for a litterbox averse kitty, this is still a good option to try. A little smell and litter tracked outside the box is better than peeing on your floor, I suppose!
Hard to scoop
This was a freebie so I figured why not. But after trying it in one litter tray, I’m saving the rest for emergencies. The pieces are too big for my scoopers to sift

I have 2 Booda Dome litter boxes sitting side by side and I used my regular litter in one and put PetSafe ScoopFree Premium Natural Non-Clumping Cat Litter in the other one. I thought I would like this litter and I did for abt the first 2 days but then my cats quit going into the litter box that contained the PetSafe ScoopFree Premium Natural Non-Clumping Cat Litter. When I went to remove the litter, I then understood why. This litter absorbs the urine but after a couple of days in an enclosed litter box the ammonia smell will knock you down so I'm sure that is why they would not even go into the litter box. I replaced that litter with the litter i normally use and they immediately started using that litter box again.
