This product is motion activated. It will not power off on its own, it will need to be manually powered off.

Is this supposed to be so loud, cold, and powerful?

This spray is intended to be quite surprising to pets. This is the way it deters them. It is rather loud, and very cold because of the way the liquid is compressed in the can.

What ingredients are in the spray? Any chemicals?

I cannot recommend this in any way. What is NOT written here on Chewy (yet) is in the instruction manual inside the packaging. Until you buy this and OPEN it, you would not know. There is a page and a half of warnings, cautions and notices with lists beneath those headers many of which state ...which, if not avoided could result in death or serious injury. First aid treatments are listed saying in part, seek medical attention and if spray gets in your eyes yet they have a picture of the device at a cat’s eye level with the top of the picture stating safe and harmless. There are many ways listed in the manual that this product may NOT be suitable for your pet. Brought this to chewy’s attention and they are investigating.

Is there any reason this couldn’t be used outdoors, barring any possible rain or winds in the forecast? Thanks.

This spray contains contents under pressure and is battery operated, so it would not be suitable for leaving outdoors.

I loved the idea of this to keep my curious cat off the counter, but with a black cat it only works during the day. Unfortunately at night when we have the biggest problem it won't catch the black fur with the motion sensor so it doesn't work or spray in the dark at all, essentially useless for us.

It works kinda. I don't think it's as effective as the 1st generation, it does do the job. Issues I had was with the button I press to turn on and some times it did and some times it didn't. When the compressed air did come out it would be cold. It sounded like it was struggling to work at times. This was my first time using this version so maybe it will be different next time as I do in general like this product.

This thing didn't work at all - the cats never set it off. It would sometimes go off randomly if a person walked in front of it.

Earlier today after I set the thing up I found that just walking past the counter its set up on to get to my fridge sets the thing off (a distance of a little over 4 feet) so I ended up turning it off. But tonight now that I don’t need the fridge anymore I figured I would turn it on to keep my cats off the counter and it wont turn on at all anymore. It flashes green once when I press the button, theres a little click noise, and then it doesn’t go through the 30 second warm-up at all it just remains off. Feels like a waste of my money.

I tested this device on myself first, and it went off after a few tries. Came home a few hours later to see that my cat had literally peed right into the spray hole on the device. It was going off every few seconds, even though no one was near it. Pulled the cartridge out to find it completely empty after just a few hours of going off continuously! Total waste of money and materials.
