When you program 1/2 does that mean each side will dispense 1/2 cup to each bowl or will it dispense 1/3 cup to each bowl.

As the splitter divides the dispensed portion of food in half, if the feed amount was set to ½ a cup, each pet would receive roughly ¼ of a cup.

can you controll the amount of food dispensed, and how many times will it dispense food in a 12 or 24 hr period ?

Though our two cats don't fight eating out of the same bowl, having their own bowl for the feeder made sense. It was a little tricky to install at first but made sense. I ended up removing the privacy divider because one cat would think the other is getting more food. What surprised me was the clever design feature of the ends of the dispenser arms being slightly lower than the top of the top of the bowls. That keeps the bowls in place and prevents a possible disaster of a bowl not being there when food is dispensed! Overall very pleased with this addition to our feeder. They go hand in hand.
