How thick is the frame? Will it slide past the stations door on my slider?

The total thickness is 5/8" when measured together.

Is there an ability to lock this for times you don’t want your pet to go out?

This door features strong sliding wind-locks that resist flapping open in the breeze but still let your dog run through, and it has small safety door locks to prevent entry.

Will this in theory work with a sliding screen door that slides in tracks as well? Or only metal/vinyl screen doors with secured hinges?

This door installs onto a screen surface, so it can be used on a sliding screen door.

Does it lock so the kitty can’t go out?

Had the exact same doggie door for my last dog in my last place, yes I got a new house and Abby passed way. This door will last you a long time through lots of use, I know this from experience. If I hadn’t forgotten to take it with us from the last house I’d still be using the old one, which Abby used thousands of times over at least 6-7 years

It fell off once, but after I adjusted the frame and tapped it together with a mallet it sealed completely and I haven't had issues with it since then.

We have TNRed cats that adopted us so we got this to allow the outdoor cats to come inside especially to beat the heat. We wound up placing it on the edge of the window so we could still close the window at night for safety. To fill the gap we have used aluminum foil and that does seem to work.

The door is perfect size for a medium cat, worked great until the lock slipped while I was out. Cat got locked out and shredded the screen a bit. I toggled the lock the open, used a small piece of tape to secure. The lock locked up again the next day and cat panicked again. Door is shredded. The lock feature should be a little more secure - I finally added gorilla glue to glue it to the unlocked position.

Convenient with easy assembly

My dogs love this. It was super easy to install. Though the directions indicate adding caulking, I used super glue and it worked really well. Would recommend!!

This will work well for my large cats in our screen door so they stop going through! I would suggest to use in a metal screened or heavy duty screen as the vinyl one in ours is too flimsy to hold up. Be sure to measure your dog as it seems like it is good for smaller dogs.

Had I known that this did not come with any thing to attach it to the screen/door, I would not have ordered it. There are no pre-drilled holes for it to be attached. At least it would have the pre-drilled holes! So, now how to I do that without the plastic cracking? The seller should clearly say that it is not pre-drilled, even though it show that it does in the picture, and the seller should clearly say that the hardware needed to attach it is not present. I was not able to start the install project until today, past the return deadline.

This was our second such pet door--the first (not recalling if same brand) was a bit harder to install and seemed not to be as robust with repeated use-had to repair several times with screw and epoxy even. Eventually I had to replace the screen in the sliding door for other reasons, and needed a new pet door in the new screen. Instructions were clear--the only thing not clearly specified that might have been helpful would be some guidance about recommended positioning (if any) from the sides of the screen. Nevertheless, I took a chance and installed it closer to the open edge than our last one. We also have a stronger fiberglass mesh this time, so that might be also be good. Dogs figured it out on the second encounter, with treats--but then again, they'd had experience with the earlier one. Bottom line--measure 5 times, cut once. Follow the instructions! Take your time.
