Feeding Instructions
Adult Dog Feeding Instructions: The recommended feeding amounts indicated are based upon the average nutritional needs of an adult dog who is older, less active or is not at an ideal body condition (using a standard 8 oz./250mL measuring cup, which contains approximately 96g of Purina ONE). Factors, such as a dog's metabolism, breed size, activity level, age and whether the dog is spayed or neutered, will affect the amount of Purina ONE needed to achieve an ideal body condition. The pet experts at Purina have provided the feeding amounts indicated in the Weight Maintenance column as a starting point. If you find that your dog has a tendency to gain weight when fed these amounts, you may need to reduce his calorie intake by feeding the amount recommended in the alternate column. Continue to adjust feeding amounts accordingly to help your dog reach and maintain his ideal body condition. Be sure to monitor his weight on a regular basis, making sure that his ribs are easily felt and his waist is visible when viewed from above. Reaching and maintaining an ideal body condition can impact your dog's lifelong health.

May Be Served Dry or Moistened: Purina ONE may be fed dry or mixed with water. If mixed, we suggest one part liquid to four parts Purina ONE.
No Supplements Necessary: Purina ONE provides 100% complete and balanced nutrition for maintenance of adult dogs. There is no need to add vitamins, minerals or other supplements, unless specifically directed by a veterinarian.

Shorting the weight

For the past year and a half I’ve ordered this dog food on auto ship and put it in the same container. In said container can usually fit 3/4 the bag and then we have about 3 days worth of food in the bag. The past 3 orders the dog food has fit completely in the container with extra wiggle room left. My husband opened the bag and poured it into the container but I will be weighing these bags from now on cause I’m clearly paying for more food then I’m getting

I have had my dog on this food for years, specifically to manage his weight. I happened to get a free bag of a much less expensive brand for a regular diet, not weight management. The incredible shedding I have been dealing with over the past several years stopped immediately. Apparently, this food does not provide enough fats and/or vitamins and minerals, which resulted in the poor coat and ridiculous amount of shedding. Everyone, including veterinarians, said that some dogs just shed all year long. Shame on his vets and shame on Purina One for this food, which is obviously lacking in nutrients.
