The meat by-products in this formula consist of non-rendered, clean internal organ meats (usually cattle and swine). It does not contain hair, hoof, horn, hide trimmings, manure, or stomach contents except in trace amounts as may unavoidably occur even with good factory practice. I recently lost my dog to a serious illness. I called Chewy to return recently ordered items and mentioned the loss of our pet. Not only did they refund my order they sent flowers expressing sympathies for our loss. This kind gesture put a smile on my face. This is the most thoughtful gesture from an amazing company. Not only are the products priced right, the customer service both online and over the phone has been incredible. For an employee to listen to our sad loss and do something so kind is outstanding. I cant say enough about Chewy!

First off, my dog absolutely loves the taste! I’ve tried a lot of different canned dog foods, but this one is by far his favorite. Whether I’m mixing it with dry kibble or using it on its own, he can’t wait to dig in. It’s definitely a great way to get him to eat, especially on those days when he’s feeling a little picky or off his food. And let’s be honestly getting a dog to take medicine can be tricky, but Purina Pro Plan’s canned food makes it so much easier. I just hide the pills in a spoonful of the food, and it’s all gone in seconds. No more hiding medicine in cheese or peanut butter!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This seemed like a good dog food, it didn't upset my dog's stomach and he was ok with eating it. That's saying a lot, considering he's a pretty picky eater. He didn't get super excited over it though, so I'm not sure if I'd get it again, as there are other brands he's more enthusiastic about.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this Purina Pro Plan canned dog food as a topper for my dog's dry kibble. He gobbled it up, so I guess that means it tastes good. I only gave 3 stars because the can lists "meat by-products" on it's ingredient list. I wish the animal source was mentioned. Not mentioning the animal source means it could be anything and I really would like to know what I am feeding my dog. In this day and age with all human grade foods out there, pet owners want more and more to feed their dogs high quality foods. Many of these human grade foods are very expensive, so we at least want good quality options from our main stream dog food brands. Purina misses the mark on this one. I will not be purchasing again.

Normally when I receive his dry food and can food together everything is good. Unfortunately this time his several of his can food cans were bent and one of them leaked causing a smell and I had to throw out 2 other cans. Hopefully next time this will not happen. I will still continue to use Chewy because this is the first time something like this has happened.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Dogs enjoyed the product but ingredient list leaves me with questions... Ingredient list starts as follows: "Chicken, water, liver, meat by products, rice, fish, guar gum..." When analyzing ingredient lists, at least 2 factors are important - 1. The order of the ingredients is relevant as they are listed by quantity with the first ingredient being the highest quantity. 2. The more specific in terms of details of the ingredients, the better. For example: "Chicken by products" is preferred to "Animal by products" as the latter does not specify what kind of animal and that can be very concerning in terms of knowing what type of animal is in your pet's food. So let's look at this ingredient label. In this case, "chicken" is listed as the first ingredient and that is an excellent start. However, the questions start from there. Water is listed at the 2nd ingredient, meaning it is the 2nd most item in the food. Most pet foods don't need that amount of water added, there is enough natural moisture in the meat and vegetables. So in this case, you are paying for water. Then, we have the lack of enough detail problem... "liver" is listed next- However, from what animal? It does not say. Same thing with "meat by products" and "fish" - there needs to be more detail listed. If you are wondering why the specifics of the ingredients are important, there are a lot of reports and documentaries out there exposing pet food company's for using questionable animals and sources of animals for their foods. I am not saying that Purina is doing this, I am just saying more detailed information is preferred. Lastly, the ingredient "guar gum" - though frequently used in pet products, there are some concerns about it's long term safety and is generally considered not a necessary ingredient i pet food. My dogs seemed to enjoy the product but in order to more fully recommend, I'd need to review a more detailed ingredient panel.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My dogs loved this! I have four dogs aging from 14 to 6 months and they all loved this. The puppy got some on a lick mat while I did nails. The older dogs got this mixed in with their kibble and quickly ate their food. I also used it in some slow feeders to keep the dogs engaged and occupied while I did house work. I love the complete essentials for knowing my dogs are getting proper nutrition.
