Feeding Instructions
We recommend that you keep your dog in ideal body condition and not allow your dog to become overweight. The exact amount of food your dog requires will need to be adjusted according to age, activity and environment. We wanted to transition away from a prescription food. Our dog has been on two different prescription foods, one because we thought he might have skin allergies, and the other due to loose stools. Neither of those had the recommended amount of protein for a senior dog. Our dog is 13, so we didn't want to disrupt his system too much, but we felt we needed to get him on a diet with more protein and nutrients for his age. I researched for hours to find something with the right ingredients and amount of protein. Our dog has a mitral valve leak, and our vet cardiologist recommended that we avoid foods that have peas listed in the top 10 ingredients and grain-free options. We slowly transitioned him to this Purina Pro Plan 7 Plus over the course of 14 days, and he had no issues with loose stool. We like the smaller kibble size, and he loves his new food.

My geriatric senior dog was eating only a fraction of his previous kibble, but he eats all of this with enthusiasm and is doing well on it. His coat is shiny and he has good muscle mass for his age. I was a bit worried that the shredded pieces would be hard for him to chew with his bad teeth, but he hasn’t had any issues.

Maddie is now a senior dog. Throughout her life, she has been finicky. I half expected this to fail too, but she loved it from the first bite. I don't know why I didn't try Purina before. It is a well-known brand. I only truly discovered it recently after Maddie received her prescription for the Purina Probiotic after issues with her tummy. I saw how effective it was, so I started searching for Purina. I am truly grateful that I did.
