First ingredient is corn. Why corn?

Answer by AaronNov 14, 2021
The use of corn in Royal Canin foods allows them to incorporate starch, protein, fiber, and fatty acids from one source. Corn is an excellent source of energy because it is approximately 80% carbohydrate. The carbohydrate portion of corn can be over 95% digestible. Corn contains a moderate amount of fat which produces 2.25 times the metabolizable energy per unit weight as carbohydrates. By incorporating corn, Royal Canin can augment the energy of the diet. Within the fat content, corn is specifically high in linoleic acid which contributes to a healthy coat and skin.

I have 2 chi’s but was wondering if this is also good for one with allergies or skin sensitivity

This food is good for dogs with sensitive skin, as it has lots of omega 3's and 6's for skin and coat health. If they have allergies to particular proteins, that will be something you'd need to discuss with your vet.

Royal Canin is like Micky Ds for dogs. The fat content in this food is pretty high to appeal to picky eaters. If your Chi is a picky eater, this food is perfect (we fed it exclusively to our previous Chi). But it may be more appropriate for grazing or as a snack if your Chi is not a picky eater - which is how we use it with our current Chi. Since Chi’s have a tendency to be overweight in the first place, you have to careful with most kibble with high fat content.

Perfect size

These are the perfect size for his little mouth. He likes them and they do not smell bad like some of the others.

I have tried every fresh, every air dried version of dog food available & even attempted to cook for my dog & he's barely picked at everything I've offered him until I gave up, figured I was wasting my money on all those fancy "non kibble" foods & just tried Royal Canin Chihuahua dry food & he loves it! I think my dog just wanted real dog food & this came highly recommended. Boomie's had no trouble with upset stomach switching to this from air dried food & his stools actually look healthier than on all those other alternatives. I've spent so much money avoiding feeding him what I thought was bad when all along, he just wanted dog food because unless he eats it, it's not doing him any good! Now he eats breakfast & dinner happily & his coat is still shiny & soft, he's got plenty of energy & best of all, I've finally found a food that's way more budget friendly that my picky dog wants to eat!

Since we lost our dog man of the house, I’m trying to transition the two girls to this dog food. Apparently there will be no transitioning, as Miss Scarlet removes the old kibble to get to the new kibble. There is literally the older food all over the floor where she has pushed it out of the bowl! Well, I tried.
