Support Your Cat's Healthy Weight

Does your cat tend to gain weight? Maintaining an ideal body condition and muscle mass is a crucial aspect of a cat’s overall health.

Weight Care

Over 90% of slightly overweight cats fed Royal Canin Weight Care lost weight within two months.

Wet & Dry Options

Try a mixed dry and wet feeding routine. The mechanical tooth-brushing action of crunchy kibble helps reduce tartar formation, while moist wet food supports healthy hydration. Follow feeding guidelines to determine how much to feed your pet.

How long can an opened bag of this cat food typically be good for?

Royal Canin recommends using their dry food within 1-2 months after opening the bag, provided it's stored properly in an airtight container in a cool, dry place. While the food might still be safe to eat for a longer period, the palatability and nutritional content can degrade over time.

I’ve tried weight control food before. This is the first one he likes. He loves it! If you have a fussy cat try this one!

My cat was gaining weight on Prescription diet food so we tried this. I wish I had read the bad reviews first. She was 32 pounds and quickly dropped to 21 in several months. Her poop was larger and extra smelly and then she started getting diarrhea. We took her to the vet. She got an antibiotic and seemed a little better but started gaining weight gain on the previous food. We weren't sure it was the food so started this food again for about a week and she's back at the vet. Now, she has diabetes! She surprisingly didn't have it before but it seems this food made it happen.

I was really worried when we transitioned our 16lbs male tabby over to diet food that he wouldn’t want to eat it because it didn’t taste good. He loves it! We mixed the Royal Canin dry food as recommended 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 into his old Blue Buffalo dry food over a week. He kept finding the Royal Canin pieces and eating them first. He also really likes the Royal Canin Weight Care wet food. We did a taste test with one can of each of the top recommended wet can foods and he chose Royal Canin.

I've been feeding this to my cats for a very long time and they just keep eating it. I mix it 50/50 with some Royal Canin canned food. I wish it wasn't so expensive, but they've always been healthy and have never complained. Not once! During the pandemic, it was hard to get and I had to try them on other foods, which they hated. They looked at me like I was trying to poison them, their sad little eyes seeming to ask "why? we thought you loved us and now you want us to die." But the food finally came back and, after years of therapy, they finally learned to trust again. Only one of my cats is fat but they both like this food just fine, even better than the canned stuff. My vet says they go for the carbs. Who can blame them? Anyway, like I said, I buy this cat food and they eat it. No problems.

My baby boy goes crazy for this food!! It’s a bit on the pricey side but after using this and switching to Purina, we switched back to this because we noticed a huge difference in his temperament and coat. He’s lost 3 pounds over the year with this. We still have about 4 pounds to go (he’s currently 19 pounds) but he’s doing great on it. He also has great BMs and they’re not very smelly like when he was on other foods.

I tried another brand of dry food, didn't help with my one cat lose any weight, so hopefully better luck with this one! It does appear to have far less calories compared to other dry food options out there.

I have 2 cats that have been eating this for several years. They are picky and they like it. It was difficult finding a weight control food, that they do not throw up after eating. It slows down their eating, and they haven’t had any digestive problems. It’s much more expensive than regular cat food but I feel I am paying for a higher quality and it at least controls their weight. My cats have not experienced significant weight loss, but nor have they gained.
