About Royal Canin Giant Puppy

Designed for Giant Puppies

Your giant puppy can benefit from a diet that supports healthy weight and muscle development to keep his body growing strong. That’s why Royal Canin Giant Puppy and Giant Junior dog foods are tailor-made for the healthy growth and development of very large dog breeds—specifically, those that will have an adult weight of over 100 pounds.

Give Your Puppy a Perfect Start

Giant Puppy and Giant Junior dog food formulas are crafted with complete and balanced nutrition to help build and maintain the body as it grows.

Brain Development

Formulated with DHA, an omega-3 fatty acid, to support healthy brain development in puppies.

Strong Immunity

Antioxidants, including vitamins E and C, help support immune system development.

Microbiome Support

Prebiotics and highly digestible proteins help promote a balance of intestinal bacteria for a healthy digestive system.

Specialized Kibble

Tailored kibble size and wet food with a savory aroma and adapted texture are made for growing giant-breed puppies.

Choosing the Right Diet

Giant-breed dogs have the longest growth period of all breed sizes. That’s why Royal Canin growth formulas for giant dogs come in two stages.

Puppy Stage: Intense Growth

Your giant puppy has unique nutritional needs during the period of intense growth from 2 to 8 months. Royal Canin Giant Puppy supports these needs with clinically proven antioxidants and a combination of prebiotics and highly digestible proteins. It also helps your puppy avoid excess weight gain.

Junior Stage: Muscle Development

As your giant puppy gains muscle during the final growth stage, the adapted protein content of Royal Canin Giant Junior helps support muscle development from 8 to 18-24 months of age. Proper nutrition is critical to maintaining the steady growth that leads to a healthy adult dog.

Mix It Up With Dry and Wet Food

Give your puppy a complete feeding routine. Wet meals provide appetite-stimulating aromas, soft texture for baby teeth, and more water in the diet. Kibble meals contain a concentrated source of nutrients with an adapted kibble size and shape tailored to your pup’s jaw size. With mixed feeding, your puppy will be exposed to different varieties of food textures, helping him become more accepting of dry and wet food as he approaches adulthood.

After checking the ingredients, it looks like it does. When I called Royal Canin customer service just now, they confirmed that this formula DOES contain DHA (in similar amounts to the puppy formula).

I recently switched to RC Giant Jr. and my guy is loving it! He has always been a relatively polite boy when eating, but on his previous food before he turned 8 months old he would eat pretty fast because he’s huge; The size of this food keeps him from eating too fast and he absolutely loves it. Definitely recommend it to anyone who has a pup who is part rhino like my boy Ludo!

I started with RC Giant Puppy and everything was great then transitions to junior for obvious reasons. KC Junior was great for the first week or so. After that my guy started to lose interest in the food. I thought maybe it was flavor or size so I started to blend each of his meals to make the large kibble smaller, this worked for about a month but then he lost intrest again. He would sniff his bowl but then walk away. This was becoming a big problem and I had to do something about it so I started adding 1 coocked egg to each of his meals but this was the only way he would eat. I did this for about a month and a couple days ago I ordered another different brand food to add to his KC bowl.l for the transition. So far so good. Im going to continue the transition the his new food and see how he does. Idk if its the RC size of the kibble or just the flavor of it but regardless he's over it and doesn't really like it anymore. Cant have him not eating or being picky. I switch to orijin for anyone who is wondering.

This particular dog food was recommended by our vet to try since our large breed puppy was having GI issues with his previous food. Our pup loves it and so far is tolerating it. The size of the kibble is large and seems better for a large puppy.

My Newfie just decided she would not eat this anymore. Shortly after switching from puppy to the junior she started skipping meals more and more, this last month she protested for several days. She was cleared by the vet but did lose a few lbs so we had to switch. Not sure how big of a difference there is between puppy and junior but she wasn't having it.

My pup ate the puppy food just fine but since he turned 9 months old, we switched to the RC Junior and I don't know if it's the size of the kibble or the smell but he just walks away from it. I'm having to switch brands as he's not eating at all.

Always top quality

My Great Pyrenees won't eat it. He doesn't like change and is a little hesitant to try new things, but he definitely doesn't want to eat this. I love Royal Canin

My Great Pyrenees won't eat it. He doesn't like change and is a little hesitant to try new things, but he definitely doesn't want to eat this. I love Royal Canin for its quality and for the health and beautiful coat it has given past animals. This time, I have to say...find a way to attract the animal and make it more palatable. He isn't above being treated but doesn't think this is the future of his palate.
