Can I put the collar on beside his regular collar and just remove it when it is not required. Does the metal on other collars cause it to discharge accidentally. I dont want him to wear it all the time so I dont want to have to switch both collars.

I purchased 2 of the Bark Collars for my two dogs since they are 2 of 9 dogs in the backyards that all meet up. The Scugog Animal Control contacted me that they had a complaint that my dogs were barking all day and all night. At the time of the complaint my dogs were not here. 2 months later I got another complaint. I put these collars on hoping they would allow my dogs to be outside during the day while I work remotely at home. My dog barked once, then yelped and ran in the house. Neither dog would go outside for 2 days. Everytime I try to put the collars on them, they just run downstairs. These were recommended to me by my Vet and I am sure they are good, but they can't work if the dog won't wear it and is almost terrified by it. I just don't know what to do.

I purchased this model for the "learning" ability to use with my 4 1/2 month old lab to deter him from barking at inappropriate times. Yesterday it went off randomly when he had not barked while I was at the store. Luckily, my husband was home and managed the awful situation. My pup was so freaked out because he had no idea why he was being shocked, had not barked. To make matters worse, it seemed that it kept going. My husband had to try and wrangle a distraught 35lb pup that didn't want to hold still because he was trying desperately to get away from what was hurting him. When I researched some more last night, this appears to be a known issue others have experienced with this collar. SportDog, please fix the bug! That terrified my pup for now, I'll deal with his barking until I find a better solution.

This bark collar worked at first, but then it shocked my puppy when she was just lying down and not barking at all. Of course, she yelped and was very confused and pained. I would definitely not recommend this for that reason. The collar should not shock when your dog is not barking. I'm hoping I can get a refund.

I got this collar for both of my Dobermans thinking that it was a smart collar that would adapt but it does not work. It always goes back to level one shock, and even though my dogs bark, it will slowly go up, which makes it worse. ONLY USE USER SELECTED mode.

The collar corrected my dog on progressive mode up to level 4 while she was asleep on the couch NOT making any noise. Needless to say, this was traumatizing for her and the family. We were all confused and she was yelping, so she continued to get corrected until I could finally unbuckle the collar and remove it. Then my dog ran to the corner and hid. I looked up why this could happen and the only thing I found on the sportdog website was that the collars should not be worn with standard ID collars containing metal tags. That was not in the manual that came with the product or I would have taken my dog's ID collar off prior to trying the sportdog collar. I am too apprehensive to try again. We have an e collar that is manually controlled and we will continue to use that. We are returning the sportdog collar.
