These morsels are freeze-dried, which is porous, has an airy texture, and feels as if it will crumble if you squeeze it between your fingers.

I bought this for my dog because she has sensitive skin and she scratches a lot. She’s been eating this brand of food for a while and loves it all, but some varieties seem to agree with her more than others. She is only five pounds, so I break up the pieces before feeding them to her. I feed it dry because she is a Maltese and I don’t want wet food all over her white facial hair. This type has a greasy texture that makes it hard to break and seems to be more difficult for her to digest. I could tell she didn’t feel well after she ate it, and later, she had a runny poop. She’s back on the beef kind and doing great again. I gave the food three stars because I like the brand in general and it may work for some dogs, but it didn’t for mine.

My dog was enjoying this as we were transitioning her, however once we made the full transition, it was constantly making her sick. First off the morsels themself are large and hard to chew, so for my poodle (mini), I had to crumble them before rehydration. Even when doing that my dog would sometimes be choking or coughing to get stuff out of her throat. The food make her lay around lazy, then suddenly vomit. Stella and Chewy fresh frozen food is her favorite so we were hoping to add another base food, but this was an awful option for my little one.

we loved the surf & turf toppers for our shar pei, shazi. unfortunately, the ingredients in this one are way different and caused her to have a severe allergic reaction. she wouldn’t stop biting her back legs and the hair fell out. we assumed it was from something else since they’re so sensitive but knew it couldn’t be her main dog food (orijen tundra - highly recommended for shar peis, btw!) since she eats it regularly. when we cut these toppers she immediately stopped itching and biting, finally slept through the night! just beware if your pup has sensitive skin. even though the title is misleading, don’t make the naive mistake we did and assume the ingredients were the same/similar.
