Are these chews Ok for a cat with a sensitive stomach.

Answer by BrittneeRDec 23, 2025
Anything that is a change to a pet’s diet could cause stomach upset. We recommend gradually introducing the Tomlyn L-Lysine Chews Supplement with just a small amount of the chew, and working up to a full dose.

Received this today. My cat immediately turned up his nose at it, so I crushed it, and mixed it with some Churu and water. He lapped it up, but some of the Chew ended up stuck to the bottom of the bowl though he readily ate the remains when it was scraped off and offered to him. So we’re over the first hurdle. Now to see if it helps his chronic URTI.

Cats would not eat them

Unfortunately my cats would not eat these even when crumbled up and put in their food. They tried to bury the bowl.

I actually bought this product as my vet recommended Lysine for 2 of my cats. I do have the powder, that I mix on wet food, but thought the treats would be something added or when I don't do wet food. They sniff and walk away from these. Will not have anything to do with them. So, maybe the taste or the smell is not pleasing to them. I can't order this again...

I liked the idea of a lysine soft chew treat, but my picky cat was not very fond of them. I had to slice them very tiny and then he ate a few of them. But usually he just left them in the bowl. So disappointing, I thought he would love them. Might just be my cat...

I have an occasional black cat that wanders through. He had a very weepy eye and this supplement worked perfectly! No more weepy eye!

One of my kitties had cat herpes as a kitten and had quite a bit of goopy eye, and the vet recommended these as a daily supplement. She loves these! When we added a new cat to the house, we also gave it to her (because you have to be fair) and she gobbles it up. They both love the flavor. I do break it up into smaller bite-sized pieces as the large piece is probably too large for them to consume in one bite.

Feline herpes support

Helps prevent herpes flares in my cat. He thinks they're delicious. Makes a big difference in frequency of goopy eyes and sneezing fits.
