Why can’t this be given with food? Is there a bad reaction if given with food?
Originally posted and answered on chewy.com
Answer by AndreaFeb 07, 2023
The reason for not giving this supplement with food is so the Laxatone can attach is self to the hair in the stomach without any obstacles that may dilute the product. There is no bad reaction to mixing with food. It would dilute the product more and not be as effective in attaching to the hair in the stomach.

Does this help with flaky skin?
Originally posted and answered on chewy.com
Answer by NefertitiMAug 30, 2022
Tomlyn Hairball Remedy Supplement does not help with flaky skin. It is only for helping to lubricate the hair in the stomach and then it can pass out the system in the stool. We recommend the Vetoquinol Triglyceride OMEGA Omega-3 Fatty Acid Liquid Supplement for Cats & Dog that can help with flaky skin.

Can this be used long-term?

A Good Remedy

This product works well if kitties will cooperate. I have eight some love it so put dose on their dish and it’s gone. Others are finicky so smear on a front paw and they get some down and some I clean off floor, walls, but it helps as they get about half down. I’ve tried the tabs and that doesn’t work at all for my kitties they can eat around them and are insulted if I try to just give them one.

Not Good

I tried to use this a few times and it just isn't working. My cat doesnt like it and he wont lick it off his paw. Today he went in litter box with it on his paw and cat litter stuck to it. I had to clean off his paw with water. It is really sticky and hard to get out of tube with it not going everywhere. Will not buy again.

Works and She Loves it

My girl has long beautiful hair and huge hair balls. This stuff keeps them coming up so she doesn't get a blockage. Her vet said she needs to take Laxatone daily because of how much hair she has. She actually loves it and runs to me when I pick up the tube. Highly recommend for anyone who has long-haired kitties.

No more hair balls!

This product has helped my cat so much! Since using it he hasn’t thrown up any hairballs. He doesn’t like to lick it alone, but place a small amount at the bottom of his wet food and he’s none the wiser. Highly recommend for any long haired cats trouble with frequent hair balls

My kitty likes this!

"Stutz" is usually skeptical of any medication. After he realized that his two competitors would take it away from him, he decided it must be ok. Now he readily licks it up. I can't seem to find this at my local pet stores.

Cats Enjoy and Helps

The cats really enjoy this and get excited to have some so it is taste approved! We have noticed a decrease in the hairballs definitely especially now when they are shedding. Thank you

FORMULA CHANGE?

I haven't had the need to purchase this in decades. Unfortunately, I recently adopted a cat who hates being brushed no matter what type of brush I use. I now find myself dodging soggy furballs every now and then. In the past when I had a kitty who barfed up one of those gems they loved the Laxatone I offered them and acted as if it were a treat. Win win. The first time I offered this to my new guy, he licked a bit of it from the tube then turned away. I put some on my fingertip and he licked a little more then left. I tried to give him some just now, he took one sniff and took off like a shot. Tried a second time and he wouldn't even come near me. I don't know if they've changed the ingredients since I used this last, but Michael Banjo (the name he came with) isn't having any of it. This might be fine for some folks but sadly not in our case. Maybe I'll try a different brand, but I have a sinking feeling that his highness won't be partial to that one either.

Hairball control

Our cat loves to groom herself, so she is continuously getting hairballs. We are using this as a preventative and hope it will decrease the amount she throws up. So far, she loves the taste; it is too soon to know how effective it is.

Tuna Flavored Hairball Gel

My fussy kitty does not like the tuna flavor gel but next time I’ll try another flavor. I put it on his paw and he runs away. I will work with him! He is extremely fussy! I love him dearly as friendly. Other cats may like tuna?

Cat wouldn't even lick it

My cat, who's been fussy ever since he's had some gut issues, wouldn't even lick this stuff unless it was dabbed on his nose. I don't blame him. It seems kind of gross. It's this thick gunky stuff, like if you mixed Vaseline with glue. I can't comment on whether it works or not, since my cat refuses to ingest it.
