what are the dimensions of the 2 bottom trays and sifter alone without the frame/hood? i want to see if i can fit this inside a large hooded litterbox

The assembled dimensions are 19 x 15 1/8 x 8 inches. The sifting tray is only made for the CP5, it will not fit any other cat pan.

Can you take the lip off of the top? Or is it connected to the sifter?

The top frame can be removed from the sifter. The top frame can lock into the place with the sifting pan.

What are the dimensions of just the bottom trays, not the frame?

The bottom tray measures approximately 14 inches long, 12 inches wide and 4 inches high.

So this does work hypothetically and if you find scooping really frustrating (i.e. you struggle with hand control but your grip is okay) this could work for you,

So this does work hypothetically and if you find scooping really frustrating (i.e. you struggle with hand control but your grip is okay) this could work for you, but honestly I mostly just scoop and use it as an extra filter to get the most out of my litter/filter out more clumps. If you have a cat with big pees it may get quite stuck in the holes of the filter if you don’t have enough litter to absorb.

There is also barely any room between the sifter and the bottom of the pan which makes no sense, it makes it stick and clog faster. The boxes are much smaller than expected to the point that my cats started accidentally missing the box because of overshooting when pooping. Having random poops outside of the box because they miss is weird and pee dribbles. It’s an awkward box for sure.

So you either flip dirty litter all over or you poor cat poop on the floor trying to dump the clumps in a trash bag. The box is also a little small. My cats will get all four feet in and then poop on the floor.

I bought these for my cats and they are best suited for really small kittens. The sifting part seems easy to use but is far from it, “stuff” gets stuck in the holes of the sifter and worse one of my cats poops right over the side, every time. I wish I had not wasted my money on these. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. Save your money, don’t buy these.

Also, the instructions say to leave the "sifting box" on top for the cats to use. Don't do that! They don't like the texture and their claws catch on the holes. Just leave one of the solid boxes on top, with the litter, and Problem Solved. Everything is still sifting easily when you pour it through sifter into the other solid pan. Store the sifter between the 2 solid pans.

I placed a trash bag inside each blue pan and the 1st time I took the hood piece off and took the sifter tray out I had a complete brain part and walked to the trash with it - not realizing I left the blue tray on top of the other blue tray and legit was leaving a trail of litter behind me. What a moron move- but that's on me- just here to say dont make my mistake. This definitely has a learning curve of 1 error. Initially my cat seemed to like pooping ON the back edge of this not sure why. Now he "gets it" and uses it correctly. While I don't LOVE the design - it's a little clunky sifting and pouring the remaining litter into a clean blue tray, adding back the sifter, then filing it up with the litter. Just clunky. Overall it's fine for now but not sure I'm seeing the value.
