Must rubber ring come off before placing in dishwasher?

The rubber ring should be removed before putting in the dishwasher.

Has this bowl been tested for lead etc? Is it nontoxic?

Van Ness use a grade of stainless steel classified as 201 on all Van Ness Stainless Steel pet bowls. Type 201 is safe for food and water contact and characterized by low nickel contact and is typically also used in cooking utensils. A silicon carbide abrasive is used to polish the stainless steel in the manufacturing process. Stainless Steel Dishes are manufactured in India and Van Ness has used the same company for 15+ years.

Hi, can you use this for a puppy? Should he/she be using the 16 oz one or the 32 oz one?

When picking a container, it's recommended to choose a bowl based on the capacity that you need. Capacity is calculated by total volume. pick a capacity greater than what you need to prevent overfilling and spills.

My dog also has a water bowl that has straighter and deeper sides that's really easy for me to grip while I fill it up but this one can be a little tricky. The worst part is that it's pretty easy to hold when it's empty and then you don't remember that it's slippery until it starts getting heavier with the water. I've dropped it in the sink a few times while just sort of absentmindedly filling it up. Oh well, I'll learn eventually. It's a perfectly fine bowl other than that. Holds up on its promise to not tip over, despite my dog's best efforts.

Saw my dogs drink from stainless steel bowls at the kennel when we went away and I thought that they didn’t like our filtered tap water. I bought these stainless steel bowls because but I figured it would keep the water a bit cooler longer which would entice them to drink... whatever it is, my dogs will finally drink the water... yay!

This bowl is so reasonably priced, I bought two, one for food, one for water. In addition to solving the upset problem, it is easy to clean, and stays on the mat when he eats.
